Actually one thing I've never really understood is why, if 1 pc is superior to jointed, why a cue from one timber with no splices wouldn't be the ideal "hit".

I suppose you need a weightier or stronger timber for the butt or something like that.

actually, the only cue that I have seen and played with which was ash only, no splices, was a beautiful hitter - to me
also it was a 3/4 but with a very short butt, only a bout 8-9" I think.
so there you go... the never ending question - 1pc or 3/4!?
      personaly choice and circumstances.
I have a 1pc, a 3/4 and an old 1/2, all are good in their way and all hit well - for me

My current pool cue is 3/4 jointed and is nearly all ash only 4 very low small splices of ebony and it is a good hitter! my other playing cues are 1 pc and in my personal opinion are much nicer to play with, to me it may just be a psychological thing because I'd changed to a 1 pc after believing it would improve my game and I believed it automatically would, which looking back on now obviously wasn't the case but I still love 1 pc cues! :snooker:

I've tried to reply a few times now but doesn't seem to be letting me post a link to a cue on eBay that I'm a second opinion on. I'll try it this way,if you could type this into ebay it should come up. It's £69.99 with free P+P or is also available to bid on.

HANDSPLICED ASH 3/4 SNOOKER CUE + EXT + MINI BUTT 9mm

            Thanks again

It doesn't look too bad but I'd try to bid it rather than spend £70 on it :snooker: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/HANDSPLICE...#ht_1109wt_905

                This one I think, 300550802760.
Looks quite nice, my worry is the different badges on the butt and the mini extension, and they say perfect for pool but give you a long extension, which will probably never be used on a UK-pool table
the main cue does look nice though.
Note that the same seller has the same package on a bid that has about 3 hours to go and is only at £26

Very interesting read and gutted I missed out on Jims £25 cue, looked spot on! Myself being an amatuer that cue would have been ideal. Will keep looking around I guess..

I'm afraid I got that one as well as mannock replica and they are both great playing cues :snooker:
