Is it just some protection for the joint and is it commonly used in snooker cues? i have never seen those in any cues before.

I've found out where u can get hold of these they are from a company working with mark Allen. If u google cue gems u will find then there about £75 each and they come in different weights

I believe Mark has a 3 years endorsement deal with the company producing this butt end protector and they also make a chalk holder with lots of fancy designs. The chalk holder reminds of some fine silver jewelery like Chrome Hearts.

I am very curious how does the universal adaptor works...does that mean this adaptor can be used on a spiroloc join as well as an airlock joint and a John Parris Sd joint and so on...

By the shape of the plastic plug, it doesn't look as tho it would fit a spiroloc joint, and if the whole idea is to add a bit of weight to a cue, how come they don't tell you how many ounces they weigh ???

Not sure about the universal fitting idea as more importantly its needs to screw in tight else it can rattle, which will be a nightmare if your playing almost like having a loose weight in the cue butt itself...........

If they can invent one universal plug that can go in all extension sockets tightly that would indeed be quite brilliant.
I think this is more a cosmetic decorative item than just something to add weight.
I saw a chalk holder that was quite well made. Think the chalker would appeal to the US pool market though, kind of like a piece of jewelry.

Indeed... but I find them rather appealing nonetheless. I'm a sucker for curios and the skull gem looks really mean.

Rather skeptical over the universally fitting screw thread claim by the seller though. How can that be?

Quote from seller's eBay page... "The Cue Gem has a universal fitting that fits all makes of cue."...

And that's exactly the thing that's preventing me from hitting the "Buy Now" button.

Totally not my thing, but wouldn't adding weight like that upset the balance point of the cue??

I remember seeing a parris cue on the bay a while back and included with it was a little rubber plug that went into the sd joint, been looking around quite a bit and they seem very hard to find.

I do not understand that either. Look is subjective and although I will nto use it but I will not dismiis it just because I do not like how it looks. Looks like a well built quality product from the pictures.
But I am really curious about the pin. Perhaps I think the idea is you can mold the pin to fit into your extension socket--but once it is done it will not fit a different socket? Or may be they sell an adaptor which fits into your sokcet that you can just attach to the plug. For example, you tell them you use a Robin Cook and they sell you the plug with a Robin Cook adaptor...
