How good are craftsman cues compared to all the competitors out there? Any pros use them?

Use the search function for plenty of craftsman reviews.

They have a good rep on here for sure.

Stephen Maguire was using one and Paul Hunter , rest his soul, was a Craftsman customer. They have just started to advertise a Mark Williams range from Phoenix (exact specs of playing cue used as a replica model) but the thing with Craftsman is this, value for money. You can get a custom spec cue made starting around £170 ish and if you pay £65 extra for the "pro-ash" shaft you will get a best quality shaft used for your cue.Like I said ,value for money.Deepscrews suggestion of using the forums search function certainly has merit and is worth spending time over.

Thanks guys. Read the reviews and were very helpful I emailed craftsman with my specs wanting ash shaft, ebony butt, 4 olive wood splices with purple vaneers, 9mm tip, 18 oz , 58.5inch length for 220. Very reasonable I thought. Plus the option for a pro ash shaft for 65 extra. Guess that's just for perfect grain looks?

The 2 good things about Craftsman cues, they have a full size table for you to try out the cues at your own leisure, they just leave you to it. Secondly Simon is great to deal with.

Greenbaize is another option you should look at, Stu always comes across as polite and really helpful. Ive not tried out a Greenbaize cue myself but they also get good reviews on here. They also have a table where you can try out a cue.

Dave and Simon are both great who will take time to help their customers with as much advice as they can. As mentioned they have a large stock of cues and a full size table that you can spend all day on trying cues out if you wish (I know because I have many times). Obviously they are a business and need to make a profit like any other, but the way they look after their customers is a real credit to them. It really shows that they endeavour to provide a good service aswell as good cues and this shows that they are trying to keep customer retention. Because of this I will always be a customer of theirs. I have had many of their cues and have had Dave make alterations on cues I have had and have always been 100% happy with his work. I would recommend them to anyone.

If looking for Custom cue at very reasonable price then I would consider Mastercraft. in preference to Craftsman.

Mastercraft provide excellent service and make quality cues to your exact specifications. If buying "off the shelf" then also consider O'min and Mastercue....excellent cues for the money also

Yep really top quality workmanship from Dave at Craftsman and Simons a top bloke to deal with also, made me a beauty of a 1pc plain ebony/ash with pro-ash shaft spec a few months ago, lovely aged finish as i asked for and a lovely player too. Id certainly recommend them to everyone, fantastic value for money and every bit as good as the other more expensive cue makers out there.

Is the Mark and Williams made by Dave or just from Phoenix?

I'd presume that they are made by Phoenix as they have Phoenix on the name plate, if they had been made by Dave at Craftsman then the Phoenix wording wouldn't appear in the name plate.

Yes baz i asked Simon about the pro-ash as i ordered mine he explained that all their standard ash shafts are of top quality it just that with the pro-ash option its more for grain looks, chevrons(arrows) whether you want a lot of then or maybe less of them etc, for the buyer thats maybe a little more particular in what they want the shaft to look like. Anway youll get top looking ash shaft if you do go for it.
