Hi Mike,
Yes, I have actually seen and tried one of your "Cue man" cue in person quite a while ago--the shaft was very nice with a very nice 'feel" and "hit." I did nto know much about snooker cue back then (and still dont, LOL). It was a very old cue and I did not know at the time the cue was made by you. Later on a very good player from Asia told me he had one of your early cues and it was badged as the "Cue man" which was the best cue he had. I cannot remember whether it had 4 prongs or 2 prongs but as you said it really does not matter. Wish I had held on to it, a piece of history of a legendary cue maker that was.
When did you start making cues, Mike, if you dont mind me asking? Was there someone you really looked up to or someone who influenced you a lot when you first started?Last edited by poolqjunkie; 22 December 2011, 10:17 PM.

do you remember the name of the chinese player?
i started around 25 years ago i guess. did not have a clue what i was doing. just started messing about with my own cue and somehow, i still do not know how it happened, i ended up making them.
so no, i did not learn, nor aspire to be like anyone. i just knew what i was trying to achieve, from a players perspective and found a way to do it.
god! it was hard when i think back on it...
p.s. i think it also helped being an anally retentive, perfection seeking, control freak...

Thank you.:-)
I am sorry I do not remember the name of the person as we only corresponded via email a while ago. He was asking about a cue and I asked him what he was using and he told me he had a "Cue man" cue. So I said I had one before and it was a nice cue but I had no idea who made it. He told me it was made by Mike. I was like, "Mike...you mean Mike Wooldridge?" He said yes and it was the best hitting cue he ever had. I told him may be he should contact you if he was thinking of a new cue and that was it. He never contacted me again, I assumed he must have emailed you.
You actually started around the time John and Will started then isn't it, may be just a couple years after...
I love that perfection seeking attitude, think it is very important.
I am very impressed by how you keep finding ways to further improve your already top quality work even after all these years. It shows a deep desire to seek perfection and a lot of pride and integrity.
Thanks for the reply.
Have a Merry Christmas.Last edited by poolqjunkie; 23 December 2011, 06:32 AM.

I have a 3/4 unbadge cue bought at about 1994 from a dealer in Vancouver (Chinese Canadian). But I never know the maker as they never want to disclose. When I receive cue back from a alteration, I only found from a small label with returning address and a company name..."The Cueman".
But the 3/4 cue is a four points splice instead of butterfly. Mike, are you the only maker at this company or there other makers at "The Cueman" during the early/mid 90's?
