  • Help help help!!!! Im lost!!!!!

Hi i currently have been using a craftsman union jack cue which i had for 2 and a bit years until some thief decided to take it. i really liked the cue and it helped me win player of the year twice in my local league not that im the best player. iv been searching for what cue to replace it with for the last few weeks and i have now boggled my brain. i was going to go to craftsman for a new cue but iv heard good things about mike wooldridges cues. is it worth the extra 300+ for one of mikes? i used to have a cue craft triumph should i go back to cue craft? money isnt to much of an issue as long as the price is justifyable.also been considering parris? mikes and parris are twice as much as craftsman and cue craft. are they twice as good?
please help guys with your thoughts
    regards mathew

There is nothing like going to a place and actually trying the cues out as you bound to find one that you really like and feel comfortable with . I wouldnt worry about the price or the design come to that just find one that feels right and plays even better .

I,ve bought dozens of cues from just about every top cuemaker but have sold nearly all of them on as they wer,nt quite what i was looking for or expected .

The next cue i buy i,ve said i,m going to drive to Craftsman and spend a few good hours there .

yes i suppose your right. i just wandered if the quality of cue would be better from mike or parris compared to craftsman as iv requested quotes from all 3 for a new cue made from scratch.
      58.5 inch long
      3/4 split
      9mm
      18.5 oz
4 olive wood splices with 4 purple vaneers and one lower front ebony splice.
      butt extension
      parris-£605
      mike-£610
      craftsman-£300 with pro ash shaft

I dont think better is the right kind of word as cues are very subjective and people have their favourites . What i will say is that you will have a top notch cue from any of them as you would from Trevor White , Dave Coutts , Robin Cook , Aurora , Tony Glover , Tony Ions , Stamford , Northwest and a few others .

In the Craftsman price range you could look at Mastercraft , GBL , UT , mastercue .

Try out the Phoenix range of cues at Craftsman, they are superb cues, Dominic Dale was apparently so suprised at the quality he bought a couple.

I bought one of the Phoenix Elite cues myself recently, its the best cue ive owned or played with.

              baz515:

Not sure where you live, but if you can get to Stu Green at GreenBaize (look up the address as I'm not sure of the city) as he normally has a selection of around 200 cues in stock and a table to try them out on and Stu is the best for customer service too.

Hotpot you wont regret it,a trip to Craftsman well worth it ( just ask perpetual ), baz515 the beauty of Craftsman is that they have two tables (pool & snooker) a lot of cues on display (including vintage) and as long as you are not " extracting it" you can try as many cues as you want AND should you not find "the one" Dave can custom build one from scratch to your exact specs. You really cant go wrong.Hope this helps and good luck in your search.

To answer your question I would say craftsmanship wise Mike is really one of the very best. His finish, precision of his splices, and he selection of wood are all top notch. Trevor White is another top craftsman.
But playability is very subjective. You may love how the cue looks but not happy with how it plays...
I hear Stu has very nice cues and is a top bloke to deal with, he used to carry Mike's cue too, not sure if he still has them.
I am sure Craftsman is a great choice, too.
So...yeah...go try out as many cues as you can and have fun...good luck.

Currently not at the moment last time I spoke to Stu.
