  • back to square one!!

I recently had my cue stolen of which I thought was 58.5 inch. I yesterday bought a new cue which was 58.25 inch but the difference is way more than quarter inch. My last cue must of been 59 onch and been 6 foot 4 it makes big difference. It's a john parris ultimate which I posted pics of yesterday

Just an idea, instead of looking to sell quickly. Why not ask on here, see if anyone wants to swap for something that suits, maybe?

I would but to be honest I should of gone to craftsman and tried a few out. My last cue was craftsman and loved it. But ok I'm after 58.5 inch 9mm and 18.5 oz

Are you selling at the price you got it for? I'd be interested.

Baz515, I would give the cue a longer trial period before doing anything you may regret
I would say that sometimes it can take a few weeks to get used to a new cue, it did for me and then all was good.
If after this time it still is not right for you, then at least you wont have that nagging feeling of "what if?" for years to come
Did I read elsewhere that snookerpoolman (?), who you bought it off, gave you a return option? If so, that was nice.
                        Up the TSF! :snooker:

It might be a good time to do a search here and check out the "textbook" or "ideal" stance and double check if you can make any changes to your stance (like shortening the bridge) which both work for you as a player and mean you can use the cue as-is. It's a possibility anyway..

                            baz:

With your old cue were you holding it right at the end of the butt? If not than with the new cue move your grip hand to the very back of the butt.

After all, we're only talking .25" here and that shouldn't effect much at all.

As a note...I've been doing some research with Airin of Aurora on shaft flex and the difference that makes to the 'feel' and power in a cue and we've discovered that most cuemakers over the past 10 years or so have been making their shafts a bit thicker between 20" and 40" from the ferrule. It may only be 1mm to 1.5mm but when we took a cue down and thinned out this portion of the cue we found we were getting a lot better cueball control without loss of accuracy on long pots.

Your new cue may be a bit more stiff than your old one too and that might make a difference and will take some time getting used to
