  • Cue length trouble HELP PLEASE!

Hi all im new on here,

just want to pick your brain if thats ok.

I have 2 one-piece cues, one of which is about 100 years old, has been shortened (was my grandfathers cue, the older he got he couldnt use the whole cue so had a inch or 2 taken from the end), im looking to get a extention for the cue. However i have no joint at the bottom. (dont want a push on extention) do you know where i could get both my cues done and a couple of different size extentions?

(2nd cue is a standard 1 piece Peradon Royal)

    cheers

    jon

Any good cue maker can increase the length through adding 4 lower splices. I'm fairly certain Rob Osborne and Robin Cook do this at least. I'd bet Mike Wooldridge and Trevor White could do it as well. It would probably be better than having a butt joint fitted.

Out of curiosity, what type of cue is the "old one"? We like pictures on this forum......
If you want to play the pink, but you're hampered by the red, you could always try to play the brown!

No doubt they could, but would be very expensive i bet, you would be better off contacting Andy Travis, does a great job and you wouldn't need to sell a kidney

Another vote for Andy Travis - excellent Cue Doctor - he has done work on one of my cues and that of a friend very high standard of work at very reasonable cost. Highly recommended.

should,nt be a problem for any good cuemaker , the names mentioned have excellent reputations and members have had dealings with all of them at some stage .

robert osborne extended my cue via the 4 lower splices and he only charged me £120, done a fantastic job too.

Harry, do you have a pic you could let me see? if a before and after would be amazing, thanks

Jim, the cue in photo was mainly my English Pool cue, due to the tip size, however when my other cue was getting a new ferrell and tip i used it and played well, except for shots where i need to stretch etc

ideally would like to keep both, maybe get them cut to 3/4 pieces, just trying to weigh up the options

                    thanks for help guys

My advice is the same as ADRs , leave the Spencers alone, good collectable cue and that birds eye front splice will not be easy to replace at a longer length. If you must experiment then please experiment on the Peradon Royal and keep the Spencers as a keepsake/reminder of your grandfather.Although I am going back to Jan 2010 , Craftsman charged me £21 for fitting a joint and if you have the female part of the joint in the shaft and the male in the butt and 3/4 the cue ,you can buy a mini butt which will fit the shaft for about £18.Then if you have a butt joint put in ( Craftsmans own) the mini butt fits the main butt as well. You can also get a tele extention that fits the same as well, very versatile. Why not e-mail or phone them.
