People who talk about whats a good cue are all buffoons,a good cue is one you like and can play with.I have sold hundreds of cues to my members over the years never yet seen one inprove their game .Only way they inprove is by practising more and playing with better players. Its all a con trick cos people are looking for a magic fix...

I dont think people are necessarily buying a cue because they believe it will make them play better--although sometimes it is the case and a player do play better with a new cue.

A lot of people buy a cue because they appreciate the fine craftsmanship and just want to collect finer things in life. Some people buy a new cue because they want to try something new out of curiosity. Some people buy a new cue made to a different spec which is more suitable to them and they actually play better because of that. Some people buy a new cue because they like the wood or the design. I would not call these people "buffoons" as a lot of them actually know quite a bit about woods and cues.

          I totally agree with ARD147.

What a crappy, tacky, cheep looking cue that is!

And it cost the same as a mid range parris or a cheap wooldridge, i know which cue maker I would choose!!

For 500 GBP, you are right you have a lot of options.

By the way, can you sand off the crosshair, is it very deep?

I think that's a pile of poo really. You don't become a world champion snooker player and not figure out a thing or two about wood, cues, cue design, inlays and more. Ya, Spaceman does know a lot about cues to be sure, but so do all the other pros. They just don't go on collecting old bits of wood like DD does.

i said hendry was using a parris about a year ago. I had a look at it when i was there speccing my ultimate as he had 4 splices of red veneer through ebony on the butt (part of the design on my cue) and as usual a maple shaft. He obviously went off it quickly but it looked a damn sight prettier than this one! not knocking the craftmanship at all, just the design.

hendry keeps trying very slim maple shafts that i am not sure are going to improve his game.

Send him a couple cues to try.

A lot of these guys know how to play very well but do not know much about cues. They only knwo when they try a cue whether they like it or not...

When the pressure is on one needs to have a cue one can trust entirely. I heard he said he can play very well at home.

How much do those "acuerate" things sell for? They look like something that would be knocked together in a few days in an asian cuemakers.

Andrew as far as i can remember the latter part of Hendrys connoisseur shaft was fairly slim in comparison to standard connys and that he had the ferrule replaced at least once earlier in his career, some of the cues he used in the last few years looked chunky compared to it.
