as to why the likes of Hendry-Maguire-Williams and Ronnie all seem to be changing there cues every other season/tournament now ? why the change ?
Not played for 3 years and itching for a game....11-3-2017.

good question and one that I don't really think there is a proper answer. With Hendry I get the feeling that he is still trying to find a cue which suits his game, I don't know how many cues he has tried now but its getting a bit silly. I'll never understand why he went from using a 1 pc cue all his career to now only trying out 3/4 cues, surely he should try a 1pc again.

Maguire I don't think has exactly been changing cues, I think he still using the same one as before but just had a few alterations done to it, I know he had a cue from Craftsman but to my knowledge never used it, he did use a cue jointed above the splices with 4 lower splicings last season briefly but I believe he is using the JP cue he had originally when he moved from ash to maple but with an alteration to lengthen it.

Williams is a strange one, he did well with his Parris cue and got back to number 1 and playing really well so to see him change cue mid season is unusual. I first thought it was the original but altered but JP said its a new cue so we have to take that as gospel. I can only assume that he has had this cue for a while and gave it a go or maybe just asked JP for something else and got on with it so well that he has ditched his old cue, either that or the old one got damaged?

Ronnie is Ronnie, for me the only player capable of picking up any cue and playing well with it. Look at the Masters a few years back where he had another JP cue and won the tournament with it, only to get rid of it a few months later. With him I think its a motivational tool, I think the game is too easy for him at times and needs something to focus his mind on the game and maybe the use of a new cue does that for him.
