About the only "bad" thing about this cue is the side with the best grain chevorns as pictured is opposite to what it would be on a modern day cue, the badge has to be facing downwards to get the best grain patttern.
Ive only ever been sent pics of 1 ye olde ash which has a very red shaft.
Its strange they are so rare as the mannock was a high priced cue at the same time and they are quite common.
I wonder if it is because at the time it would have looked quite a plain cue in comparison to the Mannock and so not selling as well as the Mannock.

Could be there wasn't much of the red timber to make the cues from, hence the high price as it was supposodly 50+ years old at the time.
Cheers mate for uploading them. Unfortunately I don't own the cue left of the mannock anymore. It was was a willie smith record cue which I sold last year

Nevertheless still a fine collection you've got there Matty... lovely cues...
When life gives you lemons, don't make lemonade. Make life take the lemons back. GET MAD!!
When I started collecting them I had a few black plate hunt cues, but weren't overly impressed with them so sold them. Didn't think they be worth more than the olde ash cues in future. Maybe shoulda sold the olde ashes instead lol
ive stopped looking now, unless somone offers me a nice one lol
Seems to have quite a chunk out of the butt, grain looks nice but can't see a repair on the butt and getting it to match 100% being cheap or easy.
Have to love the listing where he says he had an 89 break in the first game he played with it, possible but it seems that is par for the course with a lot of ebay auctions, the cue makes breaks.
