  • leather cases..

Just took delivery of a leather Peradon case, is the leather on these things meant to be so thin? The case literally feels as though theyve taken some thin leather, stretched the hell out of it and slapped it onto a wooden frame. I expected the case to have some form of padding underneath the leather or at the very least for the leather to have some density to it, the interior is nice but the exterior i was expecting more out of.

Is this standard practice for leather cases or just the mass produced ones in general?

I don't think they tend to have padding as such under the leather but definitely to have a feel of substance, yes.
I have a leather case , not a Peradon, and the leather feels substantial and not padded.
It is a custom case so you maybe right that production cases are thinner.
    Interesting to see other replies.

I have a Stamford case, which does have some kind of padding under the leather and the interior of the case is memory foam coated with suede, it is an amazing case. If you wanna buy a good leather I wouldn't think twice about recommending Stamford, I haven't ever owned a Crispian Jones case however they look very good. I would be interested to compare the way the two are made. :snooker:

I should think that they are fairly similar . I've got a North Wales Case .....very good quality ......only downside is that Crispian does not use end protectors and my case looks a bit battered .

One of the reasons I stick to my bog standard aluminium 3/4 case 1/ The case is bomb proof, (Within reason) if you knock it on something you are sure your cue will be ok !.2/It has a tight fitting flock foam type lining both in bottom and lid that keeps cue real tight unable to move (Many of the leather cases just have a single strut down the middle to divide the cue enabling the cue to rattle around.3/ If you ever have to travel on public transport (God help you) people give you a wide birth with a aluminium case (It hurts if it hits you) it appears the opposite with leather cases "they are a prat magnet" ! 4/ Any scuffs (Who Cares) can be polished out with a little wire wool. You can even change the colour with the help of some spray paint (remember to mask the bits you dont want painted) I give mine a coat of car wax it stops minor scuffs and looks good 6/ It locks !!!. 7/ There is enough room for a Tip file,Bow tie tip tool, Super glue, Spare cue tip, a Craft knife, White ball marker, Two blocks of chalk,Small cue slicker tube, What else do I need ! Ok ! Maybe I am a cheapskate and to be honest would love a real pukka leather case but until the lower and middle price (So called) leather cases up their game I am sticking to my old faithful.

Really nice website..... I shall be ordering a case off Crispian when my new TW arrives!!

This really made me laugh in his section about his cases "My cases are fairly heavy by my own admission so not for wimps"

                  Quality all the way!!:snooker:

£240.00 ! But it depends what sort of leather case you are after .

I've seen some for £80 but not sure about the quality of the leather . Looks rather cheap some of it .

"YE GODS" If I walked in my club with a £240 quid case everyone would be crowding round the table waiting for a 147 I prefer a low profile That"s why I dont wear my John Virgo waistcoat and spotty bow tie.

My leather case has the divider (strut?) but my cue and extension do not rattle around at all and I find that the compartment is of a good depth to keep them all secure even with the lid open. I have an old ali case for my old 2pc and it has the foam with the two channels that only just come upto half way up the diameter of most of the shaft, so the pieces "could" (but never have ) roll around when open and not flat.
I have nothing against ali cases - just that you cannot say that the leather cases dividers allow the cue pieces to rattle around.
The different types of cases all have their pros & cons - again with most things snooker-wise, it is personal preference that matters to the individual
Also, I have three chalk, Q-Rite, ball-marker, cloth, pin, file, glue, tip, as well as mini extension and long tele-extension.
                            peace
