  • European (conical taper) vs Pro Taper (straight taper)

I'm currently playing with a cue which to me seems quite "whippy". I have preferred in the past a cue which has a strong British taper. At least my understanding is that a British taper is one where there is a lot of wood up until the last 12-14" of the cue at which point is tapers down in a conical shape to the ferrule.

Can someone help me understand the different tapers and how they affect the playability of a cue? I'm not a spinball player and prefer a cue which is fairly rigid, and good for stun/screw.
