  • Fault with Cue

    Hi Folks,

I've just bought a new Peradom custom cue. I'm very pleased with it but there is a small imperfection in the veneer/splice. A small dot of veneer is visible on the splice. I have written to Peradon about this and asked if there's anything that can be done. Their respoinse is that these things happen from time to time due to the splice being very thin. They say it is so thin that the veneer is showing through. I'm not very happy about this because I would have expected it to be perfect. I just wondered if anyone out there has had a similar experience and if you think I should accept it as is. One thing to mention - I have used the cue since I did not notice the imperfection immediately.

    TIA,

    Mark.

What ADR is trying to say is that it wont affect the way the cues plays well and you like how it feels then who cares about a slight imperfection.

If it doesnt feel or play great and with the imperfection, then send it back.

Then do some research on here regarding some of the top makers and order from them

I agree with others , imperfections in woods can and does happen , it sound like its cosmetic and nothing to be concerned about if so it wont effect how the cue plays in the slightest . I,ve had an imperfection in the ebony on a cue i paid £425 for but i kept it as the deciding factors were a it was,nt going to get any worse and was nothin to worry about and b i was happy with how the cue played .

Thanks for your replies. I've decided to keep the cue. It's more accurate than my last one :-) As you say, it's a minor detail and the more I play with it, the more I like it (as the actress said to the bishop).

If I were you and Playing well with it and your Happy the way it Plays who cares a Dam about little imperfection! I know its Annoying but if playing well with Cue and it doesnt affect the way the Cue Plays Keep it m8 and get some Practice and Forget about imperfection.

I know its easy for People to Say as im Mega Fussy!...lol...But if I was Playing very well with Cue and Happy with it then Dont bother getting it done as may affect it if sent away and may come back and you cannot Pot a Ball!

As said already this does Happen from time to Time with all Cue Makers and sometimes they sell the Cues alittle Cheaper then I know Trevor Does if hes Not Happy with it.

              Gaz.

Post a pic if its possible, its easier to suggest things if you can see what the problem is.

I'm curious to see pics as well. I would be annoyed too (given the price of these things) but agree with the others, if it plays well don't send it back. Stick with it and love it. It takes so long to make a replacement and you might get something that looks perfect but doesn't hit the way you like it.

Since it didn't work, I've made it my avatar. Hopefully it's a large enough image so that you can see what I'm talking about.

Oh ok... yeah I wouldn't worry about that. I don't think it will affect the value of the cue much.

I agree it's only a minor issue. What bugs me is that if I walked into a snooker shop and found a cue I liked off the shelf, if it wasn't perfect I'd expect a bit of discount or something else to compensate. Having never bought a custom cue before, I just wanted to get an idea of how other people feel about it. I get the impression that it is not uncommon to have slight imperfections and as such I'm not going to make a fuss about it.

                            Cheers,

                            Mark.

If you play well and it feels good, forget it! I've noticed a couple of "imperfections" on my cue (splices not perfect top and bottom) etc, but i wouldnt change it for anything. It hasnt stopped me making big breaks or winning tournaments, so dont worry about it!
If you want to play the pink, but you're hampered by the red, you could always try to play the brown!
