  • Kiln vs Air dried?

I found a few sources in my part of the world that can sell me 2" x 2" x 5 foot long boards/blanks or ones I can rip down to that size. Most are offering kiln-dried, straight grain, knot free, FAS, S2S, White Ash sapwood for around $3-5 per board foot.

Question for cue makers out there. Do you prefer kiln-dried wood? Or air dried? Have you heard of boiling or microwaving green wood to bring it to equilibrium? What's your recommendation for stable quality Ash shaft material?

I'm just starting out in cue making (at the learning/research phase) so apologize if these questions have already been answered.

    Thanks!
