Are you going to do vid's showing all the elements involved in the art of cuemaking . I've seen cues in various stages before but would like to see the art of splicing.

P.s thought it was a fashion show when you changed out of your jacket for Part 2

How long in an ideal World do you leave the blanks before you finish them off? you say as long as possible in the vid but how long is that?

You make it look a piece of **** but i know full well I'd waste an awful lot of wood practicing!

i bet you would. i might just save that special info for people investing in my cue lathe

you're lucky it wasn't summer. that workshop gets hot, and i'm not averse to working b*ll*ck naked.

actually, it's surprisingly hard work. i slipped off jacket cos you build up a sweat real quick.

as freezing as it is right now, i'd soon be dripping wet with that jacket on.

i thought i said weeks/months in vid? you could get away with a few days in a warm environment, but it's really best to let the wood fully settle and stop 'moving'.

it will move a bit more after the next stage when it will go down to 2-3mm over size. but then, if bends are out, it will stay pretty good.

yes. it is much harder than it looks. but also, if you have the eye and 'knack', it is relatively easy.

the hardest trick is reading where the bends and high points really are. and getting it round.

you have to constantly spin the shaft in your hand top avoid flat spots and ovals. although at the first stage it's not so important cos they can be dealt with later, but it makes it easier to always work as close to round as you can.

Suggest ear defenders to go with the mask.

Seriously, that's some noisy stuff. You're probably shaving some dbs off your hearing along with the wood.

Be interesting to see how the splicings done, ive always wondered how hard it is to get the base of the splices at the crossover point level. Seems to be quite tricky as most cues ive seen usually have at least 1 higher or lower than the rest.
