  • Top 10 Snooker Cue Manufacturers

    Hi Everyone,

I noticed there was no thread discussing the leading craftsmen in today's market.

The purpose of this for me is to find out about all the other great places to get a quality HAND MADE snooker cue other than with JP, MW, TW etc'.

I think it will be interesting to see the different opinions on how the top craftsmen are ranked by you.

I know top 10 might be difficult to fill so feel free to give your top 5!

Any contributions will be much appreciated.

As for me... to this day I have only used 4 different hand made cues by 3 different craftsmen, so unfortunately all I can give for now is my top 3:

    1. Mike Wooldridge
    2. John Parris
    3. Craftsman cues

Thanks and best of luck to ROS in tomorrow's German Masters Final

    Guy

Hi, well I have only had 3 cues, 30 pound bce which I got for my 12th birthday some 14 years ago, then 5 years ago I bought a cue from craftsman which to say I went there not knowing exactly what I wanted, it has been a dream, best cue iv used. I bought a jp couple month back and must say I wasn't happy with it. Ordered a Trevor white last week simply because I sent out quotes to lots of makers and trevors immediate and detailed emails just made me want one and never seen a bad comment about his cues.

1- craftsman- maybe change in 39 weeks
2- Trevor white- soon to b number 1 in 39 weeks
      3- 30 pound bce
      4- jp

As ever it would be extremely unfair and particularly biased to put one cue maker ahead of another. What its really down to is the experience you've had with these cue makers in the past. For me I use a Parris, I've had cues from the majority of top cue makers yet although I can't fault them, playing wise, not one has compared to my cue. Having said that though this is largely down to the fact that I've been playing with this cue over 15 years, naturally I know how the cue reacts, thing is I've not had a cue have this kind of response before.

What I will say is some people have different ideas and opinions on what constitutes a quality cue. Some value the accuracy of the splice work, pattern of grain, accuracy of dimensions etc etc. For me the overriding quality is the playability and I do not think a lot of people are good enough to gauge that if they've never had a century break. That though is a discussion for another day.

Good post , i agrre with that entirely . I,m not bothered about splices being mm perfect or a tiny blemish in the ebony etc , give me a cue i feel comfortable with over one with fancy trimmings anyday .

I agree with the above as one cue makers cue may not suit everybody as stiffness in the shaft etc etc depends on Personal Preference.

These are the Top Cue Makers in my Eyes..........

                  Trevor White
                  John Parris
                  Mike Wooldridge

i have never tried any european cue. tested omin and mastercue from thailand. both is a very good cue but prefer mastercue because it is stiffer. want to try phoenix from thailand then i will go for TW cue from europe.

Can I ask what European cue makers (i.e. non-UK) are there that you know of? I had a conversation sometime ago with someone in Finland about a maker there but did not get much information.
                      Cheers

I think he meant UK makers.
There is a maker in France who is pretty awesome. He likes to put chrome on cues and his work is pretty original and creative.

Sorry dean to confuse you. Yes i mean uk cue maker. I have ordered mastercue connoiseur last week and still waiting to complete. Also waiting for andrew MW supertips to fit with my new cue. . Hoping it arrive before our company tournament next week. Maybe will try one of TW cue in future.

Anyway, I thought there are other cue makers in europe beside UK. Maybe i'm wrong.
