  • anyone own one of these?

    http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/qybfw/m.ht...id=p4340.l2562

anyone own one of these cues or know the maker?

just wondering if they're any good for the money. I have a number of friends who play pool who constantly moan about their cues. I'm not looking for a comparison to a top end cue but just whether they're reasonably well made.

    any input is appreciated.

they are just cheap chinese cues - problem is the super fast turned shafts - no selection at all you would need to be very lucky to get a good one.

problem is that there many cues like that sold under differents trademarks . the one i own is the third from left but is a jian ying cue and adr147 was selling one but it was a britannia
finish is not that bad but deffinetly don't suit my playing as the balance is not good , to much heavy and balance point is like 15"
i bought many of them and sold them . paid 40 pounds for that one , extensions and (very poor) aluminium case and shipping included so you won't take any risk buying one if you don't expect much more

I actually own one of these! i feel kinda embarassed because its so cheap.. and everyone here has cues worth hundreds!

When i first started snooker dec/jan this year i had this http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Produc...text%3ECUE.htm ... After the very first session i found this forum and done alot of googling. the cue is covered in varnish and was HORRIBLE to play with and i soon found i didnt have the skills to get this cue to a decent standard. I also liked the skin on my hand!! so this cue had to go.

I then spoke with a few people on here about an upgrade. I soon realised if i wanted something amazing i needed to go into 3 figures which i couldnt afford at the time plus being new to the game i wasnt sure how long id be here for so i didnt want to put down a huge outlay for something weeks later i could give up!. However i had to get a new cue as the Argos job was unplayable.. I decided to get a cheap one on ebay to see me through until i had to 150-200+ mark saved. I decided to take a punt with one of the cues u listed above. my exact cue is - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/HANDMADE-T...item43ad423213 from the same seller.QYBFW.

Contacted him a few times and he was very honest which got him the sale...whats the worst that can happen on a cheap punt? I went there one day to have a look at them before purchasing i ended up walking away with the cue for £15.

Yes this isnt a high spec cue obv (i hear balancing problems in this thread but nothing major esp if ur a newbie like me u dont know any different :P) However i went there with the intentions to buy a cue better then the argos one i currently had.. i achieved that. I was also able to hand pick out a shaft that i like arrows, smooth, straight what else did i need??

I have had the cue 2-3 weeks now and i have no complaints at all. Yes id like a TW, JP etc etc but some of us cannot realistically afford them prices. This cue will see me through until i have that kind of money laying about or a member here can do me a good deal (ADR). I play better with this, lovely smooth shaft (unlike the sticky varnished up argos cue) feel more comfortable and enjoy the game more. I can actually practice good technique now rather then the cue bumping over the bridge hand.

Id definately recommend them for the newb, casual or someone looking to get into the game and something better then some of the sh1t in the clubs (well my club anyway)

Alot of people will bash the sh1t out of these cues, but they are often owners of a nice £500 cue or three! End of the day i paid a small fee, got something that was better then what i had and am a happy bunny and its got me at the tables rather then avoiding them like the riley cue..

The seller is in N16 postcode area. If thats local id suggest arranging a visit and taking it from there. worst that can happen is u say no and walk away. Rah ive waffled way too much here!!! Hope this helps somewhat

i had a britannia one like the third one but it was a decent cue - not ebony but well made - that might have just been good luck or the suppliers sending me a good one from the batch though!

Thats true ADR. However as you know this is a temp solution as i havent been blessed with a hand me down or pound notes unfortunately. But this has got me on the baize. Maybe i got lucky esp picking it out.
No doubt there are some serious ****ters out there. Maybe i could of got more value for my £15 on the 2nd hand market? could anyone point this lad in that direction? Or even something to compare it against asssuming the link price is his budget?

the trouble is mate i could spend my entire life trying to find cheap cues for people but if it were a simple one click fix all solution thats what i would be selling!

if you were selling only cheap cues you would probably have more unhappy customers as a lot of people expect more than what they paid for
the jian ying cues i bought in the past were ok only the balance that don' t suit my game but never complained as i knew what ti expect, and i made my highest break with a poor match ( or dark horse ) cue , but of course i really would like to own a better one but i actually can't as it's too expensive for me for the moment . planning to buy a few more chineses sticks , sell them and get a decent one

As said it's not for me as i already have an overpriced jp ultimate. It's for a few mid level pool players who use truly horrific pieces of wood. They're not about to take over the world and there's no way i'm driving to n16 to look

                          I'll let em know!
