i sent him the shaft for this cue and i promise its so good i am amazed - B&W's never and i mean never made one this good.
If you says it's very good then it must be. It's just something someone had told me that gave me the impression that his repair skills aren't great, maybe it was a one off incident! :snooker:
PS: your mannock looks great

Think the mannock looks like shi... to be honest.. why use a donor cue with the flatted machine splice? Looks like a £20 bce cue.
Thanks fot the info guys. To be honest there's a lot of makers mentioned that I wouldn't even consider, not because they don't make good cues (Really wouldn't know), but because the resale values are terrible, and when you fall out with cues as often as I do, then this really does matter!
Maybe I'll try an appeal for the specs I'm looking for instead.

because i was hitting tons with it before it was a mannock hence i know its a good shaft - i would have thought that bit was obvious. bet the resale on this would be good!
they are very rare handspliced versions - special order only.
The Mannock is a pretty odd cue when you think about it, machine spliced top hand spliced bottom, i wasn't even aware machine splicing existed that far back, always thought ti was something that came around the 60's to mass produce cues.
Love that cue ADR147, is that a buckhorn ferrule?
I love that shaft, and the cue looks very nice. Love the tulip, too.
So you sent him a machine spliced cue that you really like, and he turned it into this beautiful mannock for you, is that right?
Thanks for the pictures.

yes it is - yes i had a 1920/30's B&Ws machine spliced in ebony cue that i liked and got tony to make it like this.

i think they were done as early as about 1900? during the war they were very common because it was harder to source the wood at full length.

He did an amazing job. When the tulip darkens a bit it will look even more stunning.
Love the grains of the tulip he selected, the contrast is so nice.
P.s. sorry did not see your previous post about the tulip, but yeah, when they have nice contrast and figures--like yours--and darkens with age they look very beauitful. Some tulip without so much figures/lines/contrast dont look that good with age though.
