Im gonna make a new butt to one of my cues and wanted to ask opinion from cuemakers and others with the knowledge about cues. So, the cue used to be hand spliced one piece which i chopped (regretting it still) in to a 3/4 and made secondary splices with lignum. After a while the lignum started to move a lot and now that i have it in a different club(different climate) it has some "pieces" coming of of it. This added to the fact that i really dont like the weight of it after the operation im gonna make a new butt. And the opinions i wanted from you guys is.. Is the feel of the cue different if i make the new butt from a solid piece of ebony or splice it on piece of ash? I know that the weight will be something that needs sorting but i was thinking does the brass joint "kill" the butt end of the cue anyway and it really doesnt matter which way i go.. Dont know if i explained this properly but hopefully those of you who knows thing or two about the matter will understand..
Appreciated
