  • deepscrew with 10.5mm tip or above?

Hi all, i'd like to know your opinions on tip sizes, namely regarding whether it possible to play good snooker and perform deep screw with a very big tip? say 10.5mm or above.

There are fellows at my club who play snooker with 9-ball cues with 12-13mm tips and they can get an incredible amount of deep screw with great accuracy.
The bitter taste of poor quality remains long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten.

      great. you read my mind.
i've been meaning to have a snooker cue altered for both 9 ball and snooker. so hoping for somewhere at 10.5-11.5mm

as much as i love using my snooker cue for pool, i miss simple shots because of the extra throw that a small tip causes and my technique.

      what are your thoughts?

Someone else will have to advise you on that.

Hi just to harp on about my time spent with Peter Ebdon, he is using a 11.4 mm tip and won the world championship. Not saying we can play like him of course but he uses such a large tip to minimise the throw on the white. I did wonder about screwing the white back until he went the length of the table and then some, so in answer to your question with good technique it is possible yes.
          Regards

sometimes, i feel like i just want the easy way out with a bigger tip.
