  • cue care

Ok, so I've just been delivered my first "real" cue, after years of using what I like to call Agos cues. Is there anything that I should do immediately to protect the shaft? I.e linseed oil or wax?

    Neil.

Hi there and welcome to TSF.
Firstly, what cue have you just recieved, details please and if you can link to something like photobucket, photos
Have you spoken to the cuemaker for advice?
There are many threads on cue care as well as oil vs wax but the main question would be "what is on the cue already" and maybe match that. And with just about everything with cues, it does come down to personal preference
    not much help there then...

      cue care

It's only a stock Peradon cue, so nothing particularly exciting by a long way, but still it's the first proper cue I've had.

It depends on the type of finish it has?

        Is it oil finished?

From their video on cue making, it seems that the finish is oil based, exactly which is not mentioned, but I would say a raw linseed would not hurt it.
Also Neil, if the cue is new, it should not need any new oiling (or waxing) but read the links above about general day-to-day care of your new wand
