One in three elks just goes splat so to get any form of firmness out of it it needs to be trimmed and sanded alot i find.

Also, i play about 20 hours a week so they certainly get some use!

Also also, when i start playing badly its the tips fault so i need to punish it with a good sanding.

Hi Terry, I see in another post you have started to sell off your other cues, I was wondering if you post an update as it has been nearly a month since you have had the MW?
ps. good luck for the upcoming comp.

      • DeanH:

I've decided to stick with the MW cue for now and to remove any temptation to try and sell all the other great cues I have here.

As Mike is not paying me any marketing fees for his cues and blackspin product I won't say any more on it outside of I think even though a lot of Mike's comments here regarding his product would seem to be just marketing hype, from my experience with this cue I've found all that hype to be actually true.

I would recommend a MW cue over any other types of cues out there, however I understand if the average player decided to go elsewhere as Mike's prices are pretty steep. Much better to wait until you know exactly what specs you want and then save the cash up for one of Mike's. I'm certainly glad I waited until I could determine exactly what I wanted, especially in the shaft flex specs which Mike hit bang on

        • Mike Wooldridge - *NEW* 'BlackSpin' Ferrule System

Has anyone with a blackspin ferrule re-tipped there cue yet?

Im getting on great with the blackspin ferrule and the tip i have on at the minute is ok but thinking of trying a few different tips including mikes new prototype, i just wondered if anyone had re-tipped theres and found it easier/harder/the same in comparison to a more traditional brass ferrule?

          All comments appreciated

          • I retipped and had no problems.
nothing to worry about. i also think the glue bonds better on the blackspin compared to wood/brass.

Yep the tip does bond very well to the blackspin

              • Dear all those who had done the blackspin conversion to their JP Ultimate, may I get some feedbacks from you? Is it worth it? How much of a difference does it make?

I have a JPU on order with a few more months to go and I am thinking of asking JP to send the cue to MW for the blackspin conversion before the cue is sent to me. Save some shipping cost.

as i've said before, no difference really, as seen on the video i did:

                  http://www.handmadecues.com/cues/22-blackspin.htm

although i will add that the fact it is black makes it slightly harder to 'see' the blade when you cut the tip (if necessary). or could just be my eyes going...

but it's just a case of taking things a bit slower until you get used to it.

also, something i did not take into account was the development of the 'blackspin' tip i've been working on. it's as black as the ferrule and difficult to see where ferrule ends and tip starts. doh!

which is why i stopped sending them out on recent orders and instead reverted to an earlier prototype (excellent feedback i might add)

but i'm solving the issue as we speak with an additional layer which not only makes the tip look reaalllyy cool, it produces a clean and clear line between the top of ferrule and bottom of tip.

there are no problems, only solutions...

yes. maybe too well. i've had my share of tips sticking before i've had chance to slide them into position.

highy recommend slower setting ca glue, like gel, or maybe better still, epoxy or impact adhesive.

i recommend you at least try the cue first. after all, it should be a good cue.

then, if you feel something is missing, by all means go for blackspin. you will definitely notice a difference.

but you may find you love the jpu as it is, so you will save money but, more importantly, know exactly how it feels and plays and have something to guage against if you ever decide to change it.

i think you owe it to yourself (and jp) to try it first.

                  just saying...

i'm afraid i would likely punch someone or, at the very least, swear quite a lot.

either way, it would not work...

Just given birth to my latest creation - The 'BlackSpin' Ferrule System.

This is NOT just a black ferrule.

This is a revolutionary concept/design that will make ANY cue play and 'hit' better.
