i've had so many repair jobs where the ferrules have been ruined with sandpaper/files/abrasive pads, and even chalk.

over time the brass gets worn away by all these things, so better to avoid scratching in the first place.

so, when you say 'polish' them out, what is actually happening is you are wearing the brass away to reveal nice shiny new 'scratchless' brass. but making it gradually smaller and smaller, and often changing the shape in the process.

sort of egg timer 'look' is quite common to see on the ferrule of a repair cue where somebody 'spins' a bit of emery paper or something on the ferrule to shine it.

anyway, this is irrelevant. yes, minor scratches are easily removed.

but the video should watched, and masking tape used, by anyone re-tipping their cue regardless of ferrule type.
Yeh i watched the video, the masking tape idea is a good one and makes a lot of sense.

So is your re-tipping movie going to make an appearance at the Cannes film festival ? You can impress some of the A list birds with your re-tipping skills.

It's a beautiful cue and very well made, thanks Mike.

In terms of how it plays, so far I've only played a single frame with it following a league match and I think it's going to take some getting used to. The impact of changing to a new cue, tip and ferrule all in one go is not to be underestimated. Need to get more playing time in this week to see if it displaces my trusty GBL for the future! :-)

                  LOL !!!!
My favourite players: Walter Lindrum (AUS), Neil Robertson (AUS), Eddie Charlton (AUS), Robby Foldvari (AUS), Vinnie Calabrese (AUS), Jimmy White, Stephen Hendry, Alex Higgins, Ronnie O'Sullivan, Dominic Dale and Barry Hawkins.
                  I dream of a 147 (but would be happy with a 100)

Lol. His was not one of the recent sinbin cues.

Mind you, yours probably shouldn't have been either

                          Nobody wants to see that!!

Seriously though, I think you will want to stick with the MW after you have used it a few times.
I got rid of my JP so I couldn't be tempted to go back to it ( not that I would be ).
Did you put my "1" up ?

sorry andy, i just don't do that. been online/email only for many years now.

used to but it became impossible with people turning up at all hours and days.

so i moved and never told anyone where.

i met rodney hines. him and mac chambers visited me and ended up buying some shafts and lumps of tulipwood and kingwood if i remember rightly. must be 20 odd years ago i reckon.
