  • Second that; cues are lovely. Owned a cue from most of the other major cue makers and Mikes are def up there with the best. When you're at that end of the market Wooldridge, Parris, Glover, White etc..... then it's down to personal preference. Blackspin is def a love or hate thing, takes a little time to get used to so persevere with it. I found the Black Spin tip a tad too hard so switched to a MW Super Tip, awesome tip no need to bed in.

Been nearly 12Mths since this thread has had a reply and how is everyone going with them now after 2 years when a lot had them fitted?

I have a MW " Legend " on order currently and hopefully receiving it soon so i am interested to hear how people are getting on with this awesome setup now, and who is still using their Cues that have this Blackspin fitted as their daily player?
My blackspin cue is my regular cue and i love it

Blackspin more of a gimmick IMHO that ain't quite taken off as he would of hoped
Have you actually tried one Leo ??

I don't think I'd have any right to criticise the Blackspin unless I've tried it, but must admit only had a few shots with one and although the cue felt solid and right, I just couldn't take the ferrule seriously and felt quite glued to it. But I'm sure others like yourself have tried it or playing with it and love it. Just not for me

        • I have used a MW with the BS ferrule for 18 months now or more and I've found it to be great. Most people who have tried my cue really like it although that also might have something to do with the shaft flex of the cue too. I have re-tipped the BS quite a few times with no problems and I use epoxy for wood and leather.

Well only a few shots isn't really an informed opinion

            • Leo, if you get the chance use one for a while. For me personally it took a little time to get used to Blackspin but once you do I'd be surprised if you went back. It does feel a tad weird at first as you tend to focus on it because it looks out of place.

I will do Rob. The cue itself felt superb and yes I suppose you need a few frames rather then a few shots to get used to it.

                • Still waiting for Mike to ship me my first MW cue.

Hope it works well for me.

                  • Black spin gives the player the opportunity to develop more spin on the CB. Also less deflection. Ultimately, the technique of the player is the most important thing !! I think MW cues should be priced for the way they are balanced. Unique. especially the craftsmenshap and finish 're perfect !! But if you can'nt play, then makes no different !! Because your arm is the one who's doing the job,, not the cue!!

                    • Been playing with my one-piece maple 'shark' for about a year now. Sold my old cue to my mate to focus on using the blackspin 'shark' and love it. Not playing more snooker (once a week league game and occasional practice every fortnight) but certainly better snooker. Never thought I'd ditch the old cue but now I think I have a cue for life. The 'hit' of the blackspin ferrule is awesome - most of the feel of my old cue but far more power without effort. Possibly all in my head because I feel confident using it ALL the time and with that has come higher scoring consistently. Think I made about 4-5 tons in 10 years with my old cue. Have made 4 in 12 months with this one including two in one evening. Doesn't end there though, Mike's craftsmanship is spot on from ferrule to name badge. The 'shark' is a beautifully balanced cue and has reignited my passion for the game.

I've been using my ash shark (with BS ) since around August 2012, was one of the first batch of members to try them out I think. I use a black medium kamui with it,and get tremendous feel and response from the cue ball. Wouldn't go back to brass now I'm too used to how it throws. Maybe not for everyone, but cracking cues from Mike and I would not hesitate to recommend him.

These Ferulles are meant to reduce throw....

                          What do you mean exactly?
If it is called " Common sense " why is it so rare???

When you play with sidespin the ball doesn't veer off course as much as it would do with a brass ferrule.

                            • Can someone comment on using the blackspin on a swerve shot?

Seems to me that it is harder to play a swerve shot with blackspin.

Any similar experience? Loving my cue though.

                              • Are any pros using these ferrules? If it reduces throw, does it also reduce swerve, as said by the chap above?
