Mike Wooldridge - *NEW* 'BlackSpin' Ferrule System
hahaha. i doubt my customer would appreciate it if i sold the cues he gave me to repair last night...
I thought it was a bit odd that you'd produce an ugly cue lol Sorry, thought it was one of the cues you'd made with the bad looking bits of ash you had Thanks anyway
"You have to play the game like it means nothing, when in fact it means everything to you" Steve Davis.
I have to admit, it's the only thing which is niggling me about buying one.
no i didnt notice the the differance at all just noticed the reaction i got like i said didnt think i was a gd enough player to notice but i did, wasnt an enormous differance but noticeable
Black ferrule, red ferrule, pink ferrule...will not be deemed illegal because it is not made of brass...and the form of a cue is not about what is inserted under the ferrule. The rule book never says anything like that...
There are all sorts of ferrule configurations used on cues and have been used on cues for many years. You can even play with a cue with no ferrule if you want. The only ferrule that would be illegal as far as I can see is one which might damage the ball or cloth.
Also, some modern day cues use black ferrules as well. Kevin Deroo just recently posted here saying how his black ferrule has zero compensation with medium speed side shots within a certain distance.
I have tried using a ferrule which was like a "mushroom" with the stem threaded into a hole I drilled in the wood. This ferrule had no wood tenon. The "ferrule" was a solid piece of phenolic material and the stem was threaded to insert into the shaft. I did that many years ago and the material I used was red. The 'ferrule' was solid and very short. LOL. It never cracks or splits.
I have no idea what Mike did but sounds like it is a good idea from the feedback.
Buy one and give it a try people before you knock it.
