Any news yet on these cues you were going to offer out to spread the word on the Blackspin ??? been 3 months now

not forgotten mate. actually i made the mistake of re-opening shop too early...

had not quite caught up and then got deluged with new orders, including far more BlackSpin mods than i anticipated.

anyway, i reckon i'll be shutting up again for a couple of weeks, then i plan to blitz the workshop and sort out as many of these cues as i can for anyone still interested.

Do you remember if the throw was less than with a brass ferrule on a similar cue? How do you feel just wood and leather affected spin, stun, drag, and plain ball shots?

I Played with no Ferrule on a Very Old Joe Davis Cue for over 5yrs when I was Young! and I have Never Played so well since. Yes the Wood did eventually Split at the end as playing Snooker alot but was ok when just playing pool.

I have also tried many Cues with Fibre Ferrules/Plastic Ferrules/Composite/Stainless etc and know the Different feel of these but til I personally see a Big Difference with before/after effects then I will say no more.

I would Agree if there were Before/After Video Footage showing the Difference when these New Blackspin Ferrules are Fitted compared to Todays Brass Ferrules on the Same Shaft would Only Increase the Sale of this Blackspin Ferrule Surely!.

Have you been tempted to go back to no ferrule on a cue?

i have stated that in this thread, other threads, and throughout my snooker playing life.

the key element of 'BlackSpin Ferrule/Core' is not low deflection, it is about improving the 'feel/hit' on cue ball contact.

low deflective characteristics are merely an added bonus, which will help novices and intermediates apply maximum levels of side with minimal adjustment of aim.

experienced players will simply enjoy the contact and increased levels of spin generated with less effort.

having said that, it is clear to me now that low cue ball deflection is a factor that many people are interested in, and i may have misjudged the value of it. all i was really interested in was how great it felt to play with.

so, i guess, all the more reason to be happy that it possesses both characteristics...

That is until they got back to the beginning of the thread, then realised that this isn't his primary intention for bringing this product to market. Some people seem to be really focussing on this low deflection thing and missing the original point

What's the current waiting time for a shark deluxe Mike? I'm currently cueless so need something before our season starts. Just looking at my options, and maybe about time I try a top quality bit of bark

yes, which irritates me slightly, but as i said above, it appears i misjudged the demand for this 'technology'.

see shop for waiting times mate. but i advise you to make a decision sooner rather than later cos i am very low on stock now and will be shutting shop again shortly.

Just to chip in towards the tail end ( for now ) of this thread. I've had a little more play with my TW ( complete with blackspin ) and the 'feel and hit' is outstanding. As Mike has already pointed out, it is a bonus that deflection has been reduced with this new ferrule.

I understand Mike's snowed under atm, but if you are able to get your cue fitted with a blackspin, IMHO you won't regret it!

So what to be clear, does this ferrule do? We know it leads to a firmer and crisper hit, which buyers can and have verified. Does it increase spin on the ball and also stun, ceteris parabus (other things being equal) compared to a brass ferrule?
