I know you say that your doing really well and as such don't need to push the sell of this ferrule but regardless of sales it would be nice to see if this really is a wonder product or a gimmick. As much as I respect each and every member on the forum you have to take there feed back with a pinch of salt. What I'm getting at is have you had any pro's on the circuit express and interest or is there a pro currently using your blackspin and can endorse the product. If you have I assume he is currently flying up the rankingsLast edited by cazmac1; 18 July 2012, 02:28 PM.

Why don't you buy a MW legend with a blackspin ferrule? You are the only person who will know if this is a gimmick or not? If you don't like it you can sell it on the forum and get back your money... Money shouldn't be a problem as you've recently placed an order for a JP Ultimate!

I don't know you but I would think you are trying a bit of mischievous trolling with statements like that.
I lost count of the amount of time's I've seen post raving on about cues and tip's from members that have a high break of around 30. What kind of endorsement is that. I ask these question's because I have a real interest in having the work done but am not prepared to fork out £90 quid on a ferrule without any real proof that it is any better than brass. No disrespect to you mike, I'm sure your a quality player but you have a vested interest in promoting the product.

I've not made my mind up and I still bloody want one because it's the only way I'll know. As soon as I can select a custom design again via the VCM, I will sit and wait for one.
Have you placed your Parris order Caz? If you haven't, I'd try one of these if I were you. It will more than hold it's resale value as it's innovative.
It's the only way to know.

I see nothing wrong with people having a sceptical attitude to claims made by Innovators in any field particularly when an A-B comparison will be practically impossible for the Innovator to demonstrate upfront and lets not forget that only a few short centuries ago Innovators were persecuted for daring to think and speak outside the Box, it took and still takes Balls.
The only way for a true sceptic to be satisfied in this instance would be to send MW his own cue for a Blackspin fit and then he would experience the actual A-B difference.
I overcame my initial sceptism of MW's claims ( and ordered a Legend ) based on his reputation and time in the business, IMO,the man simply has too much to lose by making claims that would tarnish his reputation.
I was also motivated by comments made on this thread to conduct my own A-B experiment, so I took a 20 yr old clunker,a Phoneix 2 piece and amputated the ferrule, stuck on an Elk and went to the club.
The result was truly amazing !!
I was potting more long straight pinks than what I usually can with my JP Ultimate, which tells me the clunker is more forgiving to the application of unwanted side,it also has a significantly sweeter feel to the hit than previously,I seem to feel every fibre of the timber and NO, I will not be doing this to the JPU.
I think everyone ( 30 break or less ) has the right to express their opinion but, I know that if I needed heart surgery I would definetely prefer the opinion of an experienced heart surgeon as opposed to that of a 1st year intern.
See pics.

My new Jason Owen cue no.71
http://www.thesnookerforum.com/board...ru-Cues/page14
Has been sent to MW to have Blackspin fitted, so I wil post my thoughts in a few weeks when I get the cue.
I'm predominantly an 8 ball player and I'm curious to what this innovation gives you. It's strange to read the negative tone of some posts, who appear to dismiss any innovation as unnecessary.
As a layman, cues don't seem to have changed much in a long time and when you compare this to other sports Golf, Football etc. the equipment used today is a world away from that of say 30 years ago.
This may not be the 'holy grail', but it could stimulate other makers to investigate the possibility of making modifications.

No, I didn't get the cue made plain end, in truth it was a bit of a last minute thing, whilst I was lying on the beach in Cyprus ! Jason then sent the cue direct to Mike.
I play 8 ball in Wales, so we are still playing basically old BAPTO rules - Jurassic !
