it wasn't a 'proper' sealer as such. It's not something i particularly do to any tip.

I just did it to make them look dark in pic, and can't really remember but it was probably just a random wood sealer I had to hand.

Seriously if you do it at 1am it will get authorised straight away but during the day is cue making time!
Or when I wake up, i.e. now. Bloody 5am I went to sleep last night...

Alain told me that plastic Ferrulles have less throw than Brass Ferrulles so why is it that British players and other players use Brass ferrulles instead of Plastic ferrulles or fibre ferrulles

Maybe some one knows the answer
            Clearly nobody knows the answer

            3 reasons:

            1) Tradition
            2) Ease and cost of manufacture
            3) Ignorance

It's an overspill from American pool market and, being so close to Canada, it's only natural that some things filtered through there long before anywhere else. Different ferrule materials in this case.

Also, Brits are generally very conservative and resistant to change. Throw in some arrogance and xenophobia and it's move along please, we're not interested in your foreign stuff...

But seriously, I guarantee virtually no uk player has ever had the opportunity to try a different ferrule, or even seen one. They really have nothing to compare to and no idea about the difference a different material can make. So it really is a case of ignorance more than anything else.

I'm not knocking brass ferrules at all, they're absolutely fine. They work, are cheap, easy to produce, and easy to fit.

Just saying we've had limited exposure to different ferrules, that's all...

                  • Just thought I would give a quick update regarding my Jason Owen cue fitted with BlackSpin.

I changed the tip that Mike had fitted to a Kamui, so as I could compare it with my Aurora.

Sound and feel wise, everything that has been said before is true, the hit feels more solid and crisp. I also think I am hitting the cue ball more centrally, more consistently, I believe this is because the all black (Tip & B'Spin) concentrate the mind more and are more striking visually. having said that he specs on the cue are slightly different from my current cue, so I am concentrating more, so this could be the reason. I also feel that moving the cue ball is easier, but again can I be sure this is down to the B'Spin - no, but it does feel good.

I currently have a Trevor White on order and I will consider whether or not to have this BlackSpinned when I get it, won't say I will 100% but I think the chances I will are 75%+.

Ive just sent my trevor white cue to mike for a blackspin ferrule, he is going to fit his normal single layer tip to it which i have used for a couple of years on my cue so i will be able to notice every difference as ive used the same cue for about 3 years, will do a review when i get it back

Don't mind me asking, I have to email you for the prices of cue surgery? I don't see the prices stated on your site.
