    • This guy seems to have cues falling out of the closet:

      http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Robert-Osb...17%26rk%3D1%26

And his other cues (including the infamous dodgy looking traditional)

      http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/wangziyang...id=p4340.l2562

Very noticable that the grain on most of the cues looks very similar, not many clear chevrons, seems to be chevrons with long tail ends attached to them. Infact the wood appears very much like the jasonx parris mannock replica, and we all know how that turned out.

      • Something needs doing about this fella with that amount of fakes, people don't seem to check the authenticity of a cue before bidding on it, shame.

        • To be honest I don't know why it bother's you so much there are fake item's sold on ebay all the time. Your just wasting your time and energy trying to police this. I have seen countless cues reported to be fake on TSF sold for good money this is simply because ebay is an international business with millions and millions of customers and it may come as a shock but not all of them are members of this forum. If Robert and John feel there is a problem with fake cue's being should on ebay let them sort it out My view has always been the same and I posted as much a few years ago. If someone is prepared to pay money to a stranger for a cue ebay without authenticity being verified, more fool them and they deserve what they get. It is far to easy to fake a cue now so you can just not trust someone you don't know. I myself have a fake JP which I did myself using a real JP badge that I had, it took me about an hour to do and I could easily sell on on ebay but that is not my intention or ever was. I done it simply because I could and to prove after all a cue is just a cue and the badge mean's nothing.
PS They will just sell it on if they don't like it anyway.

          • The threads not here to try and completely try and stop faking cues and that wasn't ever the intention of the thread IMO, although it would be nice it's not possible. The threads simply here to warn snooker forum members what not to and what to bid on.

            • (To CAZMAC) Sorry cant agree !!!! if we can stop only a few people being ripped off our small effort will be worth it, turning a blind eye and not bothering is not the way to combat any crime, How many housing estates have turned into hell holes because people said "WHY BOTHER YOU ARE WASTING YOUR TIME"

OK I don't quite see it your way, I think this thread is just another excuse for the members who have developed a fetish for any think to do with cue's to feed their addiction. This addiction is unhealthy and can cause a lot of harm.
What harm I here you say???
Well I know of a member on this forum who lost his home, his girlfriend and his reputation due to obsession with cue's. I not going to mention his name but I'm sure a lot of you can guess who it is.
Finally on the subject of saving TSF members for getting ripped off, have you any evidence that you have prevented just one person from buying a fake?

                    • Keep up this string as I like to be informed and I always check the eBay listing if it's posted so I can see what the various scammers are up to and teach me to spot a fake. I have already come across a fake H&O here in Canada, thanks to alerts on TSF

Wise words indeed. I swore that I would not buy cues that I wouldn't play with, but it would be so easy to go that route, the pics always look lovely. Then I thought, I'd only buy cues that I would play with, so more than one cue would be ok for snooker (in addition to the old Powerglide I no longer play with, and a maple cue I cut down for pool). But the thing is, why not just play with a favourite cue and stick with it, and get rid of/sell any surplus cues. It's what the pros do.

That's the problem with collecting, it appeals to the obsessive side of personality.
Harder than you think is a beautiful thing.

                              • Yes keep this thread up. I won't be losing my house or anything ridiculous like that, I simply would like to avoid any fakes that may be out there as I am in the market for a second hand cue.
