Very nice work Jason, hope that hasn't used up all your splice supplies . . .
Incidently, I think cue #39 should be named instead of numbered . . "The Scream" ( Edvard Munch ).

Just got back from the Hospital, visiting my Father-In-Law to find my New Jason Owen cue #71 had been delivered- who says good deeds don't get rewarded !
Curly Maple & Ebony, alternately double spliced, if that makes any sense.
This came from Jason via Mike Wooldridge, who surpassed himself by fitting BlackSpin in a very quick turnaround time.
I am yet to use it, but it certainly looks and feels the part, have to dust off my Kirk Stevens white suit off now !
Thanks Gents.

I have now used it a couple of times so thought I would give a brief update.
I will try avoid a BlackSpin update, as I have put that in the other thread.
Really like the cue design, although it was not what Jason or I had intended. It was planned to be full alternating splices, but during the build, Jason contacted me to say he was not happy with how it was progressing and suggested an alternative which I was happy to accept. Credit to Jason here as he could have just 'banged' out the cue, but took the time/care to explain why he was unhappy and more importantly suggest alternatives in keeping with the design.
The build quality is very good, the finish superb.
I am not adjusting quickly to it however, more due to the spec change to my current cue I suspect, rather than anything with the cue. In fact, everyone who has had a few shots with it raves about it. So many thanks Jason, keep up the good work.

Cheers for the update MrB, I'm just waiting for opening time at Mr Owen's . . . Months are crawling in..
How did you go with the suit by the way ? Did you opt for the butter, or the silicon spray to get it on ?
Do the period matching platforms effect your stance when addressing the table ?

Hi all,
Following on from mrbluejay's review I thought that some of you might like to hear my impressions of JO cue no 55 (there are photos of this cue on pages 16 and 17 of this thread).
The specs of the cue are as follows:
Tip 9mm
Length 58 inch
Weight 19 oz
30mm round butt
1 piece Ash (11 chevrons - I asked for between 8 and 11 chevrons)
From the time I ordered the cue and paid a deposit to the time I received the cue was a shade under 3 months - for someone who is doing this on a "part-time" basis and for a cue which had a fairly complex design, I think this is a very impressive turnaround.
I got the idea for the splice pattern when I was looking at some of Jason's previous cues on his website, this is what I asked for:
"The cue I'd really like would be a mix of Cue 31 and Cue 38. The photos of Cue 38 on your website are stunning - it's a very unusual design and it's the nicest Padauk I've ever seen. But, I also like the ebony splice tips on Cue 31. So what I'd like is basically Cue 38 with alternate (i.e. opposite Ebony and Paduak) splice tips"
Jason managed to decode this (we exchanged several messages until we were both happy with the design) and has produced an absolutely stunning cue which looks every bit as good as I'd hoped. I love the mix of Ebony and Paduak. I've been playing a lot of billiards on my 7foot table with it over the past few weeks and am happy to report that it's also a great player, and is certainly on a par with my TW and MW cues. As yet, I haven't had a chance to try it on a full size table. Am not sure how much Trevor and Mike would charge to produce a cue like this but am fairly sure it would cost more (considerably more in Mike's case ;-) ) than Jason charged.
If I was being very picky, the only slightly negative thing I could say about the cue is that the shaft and butt were a bit sticky on arrival, however after a few wipes with a damp cloth and some buffing that has now gone and left a really smooth finish.
So, that's definitely a big thumbs up from me!!Last edited by Tred; 19 August 2012, 04:40 PM.

Its a custom order, not for sale.
