It's a shame as its purely visual and some of the ash I reject for ugly grain patterns actually feels like it would make a great playing cue.

Don't you do them in order?
Anyway, looking real good fella...
Ant..
This chap ordered 5 cues and wanted specific numbers so I obliged.
In general I don't mind any number being chosen below 80 as long as its available.
I just go back then and fill the gaps with stock cues or ones for people who don't request a certain number.
It will all come right in the end, I wont go over number 80 until all are filled.

How about marking your replicas under the badges, or something like that or we could have the next generation of antique cue collectors cursing Jason Owen in 25 years time!---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ha, ok bud..
So the numbers are irrelevant really as far as 'order' is concerned. But i guess with numbering it is going to be easier to to trace back if needed, if you keep records etc..
In this age of the wide web etc...I think more makers should use numbers and keep records so they can be dated to time of build, a few stats, maye pics too..for future ref etc...

On this cue I have signed the back of the badge in a perm marker. Plus photos will be on my site which hopefully will be about in 25yrs.

On my site I have got a registry of all cues, the relevant number with a brief description. The idea being that in 10 yrs when one of my cues appears on eBay then the prospective buyers could check its authenticity on the site.
Plus I have pics of every cue I've made.
Regarding numbers, I think that people will get the general idea of when a cue was made.
