  • How do you straighten a cue ?

Can this be done at home ? I've been told suspending it in a shower with a weight attached does the trick - is this right ?

What ?? hope you don't mean actually in the shower with the water turned on
Maybe in the same room with the steam. but i doubt it would work

Just bend it straight plus a tiny bit more.

About 2/3rds up the shaft and it is not too bad, but noticeable.

I have secured it to a coat hanger and it is hanging in the wardrobe, need to put some additional weight on the butt though.

this won't really work - either bend by hand or steam - i tie an old cloth round the bend and poor a kettle over it then bend it straight and wait for it to cool.

I did a similar job to a American 9 ball maple cue that ADR147 and I'll explain:
                        1. Firstly I looked down shaft and rotated it to the point where bend looked worst and then mark joint on the opposite side(180 degrees) with a touch of tape.
                        2. I then wrapped cue with cling film from tip of cue down to 6 inches past bend.
                        3. Then I soaked a flannel in hot water and wrapped round cue covering the bend.
                        4. I then boiled a kettle full of water and then slowly poured the hot water over flannel a bit at a time to keep the hot temperature in flannel consistently hot.
                        5. After every pour I grab cue and with the tape marker facing up on cue I gently bend cue with downward pressure bending cue in opposite direction of bend.
                        6. Do this a few times while checking cue for straightness and keep doing this till voila!....cue is straight again!
Hope this helps as it does work!
