long ago. i've sent an email to dave and simon at craftsman:
"Hi again,
Dave said Paul's cue was as follows:
1pc 147 cue, 17oz, 57.5"
Originally 8.5mm but then later changed to 9mm when he his cue lengthened.
Paul had his 147 cue a few years and then decided to make the cue more fancy by having 4 splices of tulip wood added, to look like something like our Majestic cue but without the small lower front ebony splice, just tulip wood.
After a period he decided he did not like the feel of the Tulip wood in his hand and asked us to fit 4 ebony splices over the top of the tulip wood so when finished it looked just like a plain ebony butt again. At this time we lengthened the cue slightly so we could shorten the cue down at the tip end to achieve a thicker tip size of 9mm. A much better choice,
So in answer to your question, if you want a cue to look like Paul's then our 147 cue should be just fine, unless you want to opt for the Tulip wood Majestic cue.
Hope this helps. "See new updates: http://cueporn.tumblr.com/

I always thought it was a plain ebony cue originally then he had the tulip splices afterwards, just shows that only the person who made the cue really knows the info. It does annoy me sometimes when people think they know certain info as though they know better than anyone else and then the truth comes out and makes them look, well shall we say a little stupid!

Here is a classic situation of that. I'm sure most cue makers, if asked, will be glad to give the info on players cues.
