  • Robert Osborne v John Parris

I currently play with a 3/4 robert osborne redplate fs which i have had for around 6 years now,i do love this cue but have fancied a one piece cue for sometime now and have been onto robert for a couple of years of now to make me a cue to my own spec to but due to commitments in china etc he has been unable to do so.I am willing to wait as i love my osborne cue and know the quality but i have also always had a notion for a one piece parris cue but have heard mixed reviews on them so am unsure really.Has anyone had both a parris and osborne cue as would be interested to know your views on the comparison between the 2 cues?

Both are great cue makers and produce first class cues . every cue is individual and playys different so unless there is something inferior that sticks out like uneven splices , poor quality wood , attention to detail etc that sets them apart the playability is totally subjective and will vary from cue to cue .

I think its hard to comare two great individual cuemakers that can and do produce near enough flawless cues which they both do you can only compare individual cues and that will vary with each cue and comparison .

Hi there are so many great guys out there making stunning cues. Try not to limit yourself to only 2, go out and try some others you'll be amazed.

yes i think the same, ive tried nearly all cue makers and osborne cues were my favourite up to few months ago. found a one piece pheonix cue at craftsman cues which is playing like a dream at the min. the best cue for a person is one that feels right, forget the name plate. so get trying as many cues out as you can, irrespective who made them, ya might be suprised

Robert craftsmanship is better than John Parris because Robert makes cues him self and all splices are even and faultless but you cannot beat John Parris shaft selections. I think he is the best to see the shaft before it is completed. I would give John 10 out of 10 for the shaft selection and robert 7 out of 10.

But you pay the premium Andrei , a selected ash shaft from trevor White and a few others is a fraction of the price for a Parris and the shafts are really top draw .

Check out Robert's website . He will be putting up more cues soon and the specs should suit most people but you can always get him to make some adjustments for you .

I'm biased but i prefer Osborne cues and i disagree with 7/10 for the shafts as well .
Still trying to pot as many balls as i can !

Parris is expensive. Demand, location,VAT registered. If you take out VAT the price will be almost the same as Trevor and Stamford.
