  • Ultimate Cue in my Dreams

I wonder if there is a cue maker out there who could make a snooker cue with a broad grain ash shaft or pearwood shaft, four Mpingo major splices, with four Pink Ivory minor splices (or maybe four minor splices from the huge slab of mahogony I have in my loft?) and a photo-plate [weight 19oz, 9.75mm Phoenix tip, 30mm butt diameter, 57 3/4 '' long]. It would certainly not be one for the faint hearted!

What would your ultimate cue be, and look like?
Harder than you think is a beautiful thing.

    Sounds lovely.

I am a simple person with simple taste. I would just want an Ash Shaft, ebony butt, with a Single burr wood front splice (probs Thuya) and a Thick maple veneer.
    9.5mm elk, 18oz

    Simple but beautiful.

Elegant jeese, elegant. I've always liked the simplicity of black wood, like a dinner suit and bow tie, two simple colours.

Most cuemakers will make a cue out what you request.

If they dont stock it, then you can post it to them.

I am a fan of plain ebony but also like any replica of connie style and burwat.

Jaffa, but where would we get the Mpingo and Pink Ivory, that's the issue. Not sure I could source it easily, but maybe a cue maker could?

Yeah, I think some of the major splicing and veneer work you see now, although very impressive just looks over the top.
Everyone has different tastes though, everything would be boring if we all liked the same!

My ultimate cue would consist of plain but colourful woods such as blackwoods, maple and rosewoods. For me the most important things is the balance of the cue and obviously the feel.

Well I have spent thousands on cues down the years so have had many nice cues but the Ultimate cue for me would be getting the right shaft, very stiff but with enough give to make it lively. I know it exists or is out there, I've just yet to find it, well I should say I think I owned it but regretably sold it!
