I do understand that JP cues are the best on the market and if you have money (and you live nearby (I live in the Netherlands)) that you are going for a JP cue. I'm really happy with my cue and I think that is the most important, I just wanted to say that it's not all about the brand but it's about the feeling that you have with your cue whether it's 150 pounds or 800 pounds.
I have owned 3 different JP cues, I wouldn't say they are the best on the market. It's all subjective of course, but he is heavily endorsed by a lot of professional players. Due to the demand however, this means that the man who's name is on the cue is not necessarily making the cue you're paying for. I'd rather pay for the complete service of having the cue made by the cue maker who's name is on the badge and whom the reputation is derived.

Don't get me wrong, JP cues are high quality and I have had the highest of breaks with them and enjoyed my snooker at a time when I owned one.

This is only personal preference, you and many others may feel differently.

Currently on my Mastercue M4 that arrived last month, loving every minute of it. Any bad that happened during my game, its definitely my fault, not the cue.

Ha ha, always the way! I've chopped and changed for years but always revert back to my trusty old cue. Have bought and sold many a fine cue hoping to find the one but gradually realising that I've had 'the one' all along. It's an old Joe Davis 147 Champion Cue which I bought in a sorry state about 12yrs ago. The badge is worn blank, the original maple splice was split so replaced it with a nice bit of olive wood and the tip is whittled down to 6.5mm.
