  • Retipping Cost

What do you think is a reasonable charge for retipping a cue to a professional standard? Let's assume the customer pays for the cost of the desired tip.
Harder than you think is a beautiful thing.

I think around £5 is average.

If you use this american method it'd probably cost £50. Seriously could they make such a simple task any more complicated?

That does look totally professional though. Perfect force, no gaps, and it probably wouldn't fall off. Love the lathe, but I woudn't be pleased if he was even slightly out, goodbye plastic ferrule! Perfect, symmetrical domework. Nice.

You're doing it for free Jim!

I think the likes of JD and JJB charge a tenner for a blue diamond, which probably cost them 20p a tip, so over 9 quid, and it ain't as good a job as I'd do, or any of you guys either.

I think £5 with a elk included is fine, extra for other tips as some cost so much more !

As for the nutter in the link he should have just used a "kamui black" wouldnt need to paint it

And although you do have to work close to the chuck, would you go so close for a tip ? especially with a the cloth !

If it's done so that the ferrule is clean and polished and if the tip is absolutely flush to the ferrule, then a tenner ain't too bad. Throw in a cue clean and oil, and a tenner is good value do you think?

I think £5 is a bit steep to be fair. I charge £3 a tip, but then I'm not doing it as a business so I guess if I charged more people would think I'm ripping them off and I wouldn't like that. realistically a box of tips is about £18 so roughly 40p a tip. Bottle of superglue is about £3-£4 and sandpaper another couple of quid. So basically £25 for 50 tips, glue and sandpaper, basically everything you need to put on a tip. 50 x £3 is still £150, not a bad profit from £25 outlay, those charging a £5 really are taking the preverbial.
