How long did you have to wait in total with the four weeks? I'm with you when you place an order for an ultimate you know the lead time is going to be around a year give or take a month. I understand ppl frustration's but they have to under stand that john can't employ someone 24-7 to answer customer queries that the whole purpose of the FAQ.

Hello Cazmac, I sent demand via there website in mid dec 2011. it will be 32 weeks if I receive it on time. Thanks, I hope it will pot the balls by itself, lol wishfull thinking. I am happy they replied to me and I know that construction is underway. Cheers,

Completely unrelated I know but parris has just tweeted that 7 of the 8 quarter finalists in the PTC are using Parris cues. Say what you like about him, that is some achievement that will probably never be beaten by any other cue maker again. He must be very proud.

I wont be in the final but will have a Parris Cue. lol

I a bad experience on Sunday, and all most destroyed my cue. Plus the lead time is shorter for a 3/4 than a one piece apparently.

PS is there such a thing as a water proof cue case???

I've 2 JP cues, 1 'Ultimate' n the other a 'Superior' cue, placed another 'Ultimate' in May, so ONLY another 8 more months to go................

4 of them I think, little uncertain about McManus, if he was using a 3/4 then its 4, if not then 3. Higginson, Hawkins and Williams the others, though Williams is a 1 pc with a joint put in above the splices.

Yes all 3/4 cues are made as a shaft and a butt, which is why as they make more of them they turn more shafts, hence why they are quicker to make. 1 piece cues are just that and trying to find the right balance, feel, even points, straight grain, amount of arrows etc, it can take quite a while to find the right shaft for each Ultimate cue order.

To be honest I think John could make a butt up in three days so this can't be the reason. It might just be that in a one piece the shaft runs the whole length of the cue so he needs to find a shaft that has the right features on the part of the shaft that is showing and with the right playing characteristics.

Hang on.... are we saying here that 3/4 cues are not made from the same piece of wood that is then cut and a joint added?

Are we saying that the butt is not anything to do with the shaft of the cue?

This is standard practice by most if not all cue makers. There is nothing wrong with this other than the woods might not be an an exact match.
