    • Having given this another 5 seconds thought, an Ultimate ash shaft your paying for the even grain and thats pretty much it. With a maple shaft what are you paying for? No cue maker send our blotchy maple shafts do they?

It's unusual to find a player who switches from one to the other. Plenty try it out but most go back to their first love. So if you normally play with Ash and always have done, getting a Maple is a big gamble, especially on a cue with such a long waiting time.

And I speak from personal experience. I've always played with Ash but I waited 9 months for a custom made Maple cue to my specs from a top cue maker but I just didn't like the feel of Maple so had to sell it on.
Ill double that. Ones I was mistakenly thinking that getting maple would be a better alternative to ash ,eliminating arrows/darts. Trevor made me a beautiful maple cue so when I got tha cue and played with it for few weeks or so then I came to a conclusion that feel of maple was somewhat different to ash , especially in amongst the balls so there I was back to ash

Peter , whichever wood is gonna be , ultimate cue will be ultimate in feel !!!
Or so I would like to think.

        Cheers

I will consider such an option myself if I don't get my cue for my birthday

Ain't all custom made cues random even with knowing your so called perfect spec's. There is absolutly no way of knowing how a cue will play until it is made

Let's face it I've played with ash all my life and never really hit the height's I wanted so is it really going to make that much difference. Yes it will that time to adjust but so will the new cue.

An Ultimate is exactly that, the ULTIMATE. Anything but Ash 1 piece to me is not ultimate. Fair enough if you've used maple all your life but your an ash man arent you?

All i'll say is best of luck!
Just in one of those mood's deepscrew, I'm just having a mad one at the moment. I agree with your assessment of what an ultimate is. I will make my decision base on what times john comes back with. I sure the cue will be just as good no matter what I go for.

Does he even post here anymore? For a while you couldn't move with threads he had created, then after he accused Mike of using second rate materials he finally apoligisied and he's been very quiet since.
