  • Opinions please

    Hey all,

After your (more expert than mine) opinions please, I recently purchased a H&O cue from ADR147, the plan was to use it as my playing cue, I was going to have it taken down from its 11.5mm to 10mm and have it re finished by Robert Osbourn (keeping any work done on it as close to "in the family" as possible, if you know what I mean) thing is I'm now thinking about selling it and just wondered if I would be better of selling as is, or, having the above work done to bring it upto more acceptable specs ??????

    Look forward to your thoughts.

    Cheers.

By the way I'm not an expert, however, I would leave it as is. You could spend the money on getting it down to a 10mm and someone might want to buy it and take it down further to 9.5mm or 9mm. I think you will get the usual money for a H&O, if you reduce the price to compensate for the work needed, more easily this way.

You are correct, probably on both counts.

Leave it as it is mate! Some things have just to be left alone!
A guy brought a burwat champion in mint condition!
Wanted it taken from 10mm to 9.3mm and I refused!
Think you should do the same mate!

I'm agree with theballbreaker, discount price always attractive to buyer.

what is the current length of the cue? Imagine its quite short if it was Meo's .... I tend to agree with Raymo on this one. It will hold its value without tinkering.
              Always a pleasure

Length is 57 1/4 inches total from tip to butt.

Thanks all, thought leaving it alone might be the general consensus but just thought I would get peoples thought.

                Many thanks

I think that ADR147 would be the guy to consult.
The bitter taste of poor quality remains long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten.

This cue was made for Tony Meo as a American pool cue when he was going to do a series of pool exhibitions with Jimmy White. That's why the specs are so unusual.

To get your money back I would recommend you NOT change the specs at all and leave it mint and as Tony ordered it

I would agree with Terry leave the Cue as it is Unless! The Buyer wants you have have the work done but Make sure you get Cash Upfront 1st!

                      Gaz.

Yes. In my opinion the golden rule is not to be in a hurry with this sort of thing. You'll get your price if you can wait.

Yes I agree, I'm in no rush, Just wanted opinions, like I say, I was going to use it as my playing cue (having had an H&O cue made back in the day and thought it would be nice to get another) but to be honest, it was probably slight overkill for how much I'll play now, plus I recently got a cue back from Robin Cook, a Mastercue which he did quite a bit of work/alterations on and I think that will do me.

Thanks for all your input, I'll leave it as is, but if anyones interested in it let me know, price is £1000.000

                          Cheers

i recently bought a H&O black plate too. but its a bit too long for me. i decide not to alter it to my spec and sell it to someone who can use it better than me. these cue are antique so i think it better to keep as original as it is. its really a nice cue to own. ^^
