Thinking about it, a few times "Airin's" posts didn't come across as being written by someone using English/Canadian as their first language, maybe i'm wrong, shame if we were all fooled all this time ehh lol

Now you guys are witch hunting! A few years back I did talk to Airin on the phone but since it wasn't a video link I can't confirm it actually was Airin. Also I'm sure a few years ago there was a photo on Facebook showing Airin's workshop.
I believe Airin used to make CNC pool cues for the US market and then he came to Britain to sort of apprentice with one of the better cuemakers (I thought it was MW, but not sure) and then came back to Vancouver and started making British-type snooker cues. From the first 4 cues he made I bought a 1pc Burwat Champion sort of copy although with the Aurora badge on it. It was a really great cue but a little light for me so I wrapped lead tape around the balance point to add about one ounce. It looked REAL UGLY and also the tape would catch on my shirt so I eventually sold the cue on to a fellow in Scotland.
I think a fake Airin would be just too much of a conspiracy and why keep it up for 4 years? What possible reason could there be as I doubt Richard Chen has any sort of bad reputation that would make it necessary to put a fake ID out there. I've never heard the name before in association with cue sports

Terry
Richard was making pool cues and pool break cues and sell them locally and online.
Funny thing is after he run pool cue bushiness couple years and got many orders he said he had cancer then disapperd.
Many pool players in bc knows him and his reputation is so bad here.
I heard all these after i brought cues from him. I went to a pool tournment so many players saying he is a cheater.
Yes i do think he have a workshop in richmond and cues are made in Canada. I didn't say his cue made in China or elsewhere.
He still have the workshop photo on his website. And before when i ask him to replace tip or cut cue for me he usually can do it in 2days.
You are very likely talked to Richard on the phone.
He use Airin's name because he doesn't want people know it's Richard making and selling the cue. Because he said he had cancer before. Now he is saying he is sick .
How come he can sick form march till now.
How come he can suddenly reply emails after this threat came out. He react in less than 12 hours.
he usually sound so nicely and helpful to customers. I believe he has been very nice too you. But that doesn't mean he is honest to everyone else and honest.

'hong kong chinese' explains it all for me. terry is an honest canadian - he won't understand these 'quick buck' concepts until he has lived in hong kong and experienced the duplicity first hand.

I just like to post my personal thought toward Airin. I have 4 Aurora cues~ 1 i get it from hotpot, the other 3 i deal with Airin directly, all of them are well made , lovely spilicing and great shaft. One of the cue i purchase from Airin crack at the front of the shaft during shipping, and he asked me to sent it back to him and agree to refund me the postage and build another same design cue for me. I still have 2 cues with him and he sent me a mail on may saying that he was sick and will finish it as soon as possible and send it to me as quick as he can. And he is really helpful, he agree to me saying that i can send any of my cues to him for refinishing free of charge as long as i pay for the postage. From what i see he is a really nice bloke to deal with. Sorry for my poor english.Last edited by Jasonteh6688; 28 June 2012, 09:39 AM.In progressing!!

I have had a few dealings with Airin and he has been nothing but a pleasure to deal with , Even insisting he paid unforseen custom chareges andextra post for the cue i bought off him . The two cues i had and the one i seen belonging to Mr Bluejay were all spot on and lovely hitters .

I have bought 10 or 12 Aurora cues both for myself and some of my students over the past 4 years or so. I have always found Airin to be helpful and to stand behind his products. In one instance I had a very small crack below the badge on a snakewood splice and he fixed that for free, covering the postage both ways.
I've never had a problem. I can remember I bought some Talisman tips from him and one de-layered and I let him know. I didn't complain and ask for a replacement as these things happen, but he sent along another 3 anyway without me asking.

This thread is really intriguing... perhaps we'll never really know. PQJ/Airin got mostly good reviews here and I've had good experience purchasing from him. Would be great if he can clarify on some of the posts though. When life gives you lemons, don't make lemonade. Make life take the lemons back. GET MAD!!

Terry
Me and my friend brought more than you.
I still have 3 with me.
I brought 4 . 3 of them cracked. I got one refunded. Mine 12 splices cracked twice. He fixed for me for free at the first time. But he charged me for the second time. The cue is brand new and I never used cuz I have many better cues.
My 4 of my friend cues cracked.
I return the cracked cue to Richard he refinish it and sold it to a customer for brand new price.
Terry and Hotpot. You guys are well known member on here so he will do his best to keep you happy and build up his reputation .
But for no TSF members he sometimes doesn't tell truth.
