  • Using antiques as playing cues?

Anyone use old antiques as playing cues? (ie jp mannock, burwat champs, ye old ashe, willie smith, w.cook, etc..)
What do you use and how do they play compared to today's modern cues?

If theyre stiff enough theyre perfectly playable, some of them tend to be whippy and not many people seem to like a whippy cue.

I use an old riley cue fom the late 30's / early 40's. Hand spliced maple with the trapesoidal badge.

Plays well, and not too whippy. I just liked the feel as soon as I hit a ball with it.

Not one of the instantly collectable cues, but then , not bought for collecting either.

I have tried playing snooker with it and again it plays very well, really surprised me just how much spin I could get on the cue ball as the tips so large and the weight being only 16.5 oz..I just use it for 9-ball now, I even tried it on a 8-ball table that was a laugh I could hardly see the white ball in front of the tip!

lol I have to say I found long potting was easyer as well on the snooker table, less chance of putting side on the ball with a big tip! :snooker:
