Plain ebony,cocobola,rosewood butt ash shaft £375, 1 splice £400,4 splices £450, within reason doesn't charge for veneers, I think snakeswood and all burrs are extra, hes also got some really old matured ash hes been storing for ages ,a shaft out of that is an extra £100

TW money me thinks, or not far off. These cues would have to be very good for that price.

He is a bit steep, he reckons a cue is 40-50 hours to make total,take out materials cost,leaves a modest wage for a weeks work in reality. I've owned a couple of TW cues in the past, they are very, very good, I'm about to order a new one coz i love his maple. In my eyes he is in the same ball park. Obviously only in my opinion and i am a carrot chewing farm boy

Hi all,went to see Paul(cue maker)last night to show him what i'd put on here,hes a bit of a technophobe and useless with computers, to see what he thought of the comments. as always happened, prices came up. i explained to him that his were ok for people who know and own one, but that the wider world doesn't know he exists!He is going to make a limited run with a a few blanks from another friend of mine,Straffy from matchplay cues,to offer a few cheaper efforts. He wasn't sure as he prides himself on the completely handmade angle of the business, but i thought his high quality finish would still shine through as would the splice work etc. Would i be right in assuming this is how other cue makers are able to offer cues for the £200 mark?

I have to say, that the cues section in TSF is fast becoming full of people wanting to use it as a vehicle to promote and sell their wares, so much so, that a quick glance at it would lead anyone to believe that it's the traders section of this website. Numerous other websites would never allow this, and would restrict the way in which such practise is carried out. It's becoming a joke.

Anyway, to reply to the post above. If he (whoever "he" is) is telling you he's taking 40 to 50 hours to complete a cue, and, is then selling it for £400, that would mean that he's working for £8 to £10 an hour, and that's if there is absolutely no material costs or consumable costs whatsoever. If these costs were accurately calculated and removed from that £400 total, then he'd be working for less than minimum wage I'd guess.

If you want to be taken seriously, and wish to sell something here, at least try to treat everyone as a little less stupid and get your numbers right.

£400 minus £100 for materials = £300, not far off a weeks wages for many surely?I'm more than a little taken aback by your comments Trevs1, at no point have I tried to sell something on here,all I've asked for is advice. I myself will make no financial gain out of sales anyway.I found this site,saw other cuemakers doing what I've done for my friend, and put some pictures of his work up. I am a big fan of your work but you're being a tad bitchy
