      Black Plate

For an eighties cue i thought there would be more colour to the ash.

My view is that he should offer the cue for sale worldwide, but he says that postal lost or damage is small, but if it was to happen to this cue it would upset him.Thats why he has decided to hand the cue over to the buyer (collect) in person, looking at the pictures i think you will agree.

Yeh I agree that if he offered it worldwide he would get more money, cash on collection makes your market a lot smaller but I do know why people worry with couriers as they can be awful. It looks a nice cue but the ash seems light for a cue that is over 25 years old, also the font is different on the badge to all the hunt & o'byrne cues I've seen but I do know that H&O used 2 types of font on their badges at different stages.

Yes rob s the seller says they did use 2 types as far as he is aware, might the ash thing be because its been in its case for over 20 years (unused) ?. Is it not natural light that darkens the wood.

Morning CALE1 it looks a nice cue but some more photos would be nice including 1 of the whole shaft and the side grain, splices etc. I hope you take no offence but when a cue of this price range is available collectors like myself need to be 100% on it authenticity. I've been looking through an old H&O catalogue to try to verify the badge as its different to all the H&O badges I've seen. Regards

                  No probs rob s

I will try for more pics for tonight, you are right to be careful i would too, but this is the REAL deal.Who knows he might even let YOU ONLY look (but not play of course) at it, being in the area. You could then confirm for the board its condition. But rob s if you are thinking of an offer knowing him it would have to be (too good to refuse).

                      rob s

The seller reminds me also that if the cue was not as seen (pictures) he would not want to hand it over in person and shake their hand for buying what must now be classed as (quite few and far between).

This statement confused me to be honest, was it a typo or does this mean he wouldn't hand the cue over in person? If he won't do that then you have no hope of selling it especially considering he is expecting prepayment (and a hugely inflated price)

Sorry for the confusion rob s,think the seller ment (if it was a fake H & O would he bother to hand over the cue in person. He thinks not.

What a shame the cue maker is not contactable,he i am sure could tell from the pictures if that was his work or not. Even if it was 30 years ago.
