Need to make sure you have a 3D temperature map of the area as well, as heat only coming from one side could warp the cue as well. .

Every guarante ends at some point anyway.
mind control > body control > cue control > ball control

Store the cue in a case and keep the temperature as constant as you can. I stored a JP cue for 8 years in a case while I lived in the States and it never warped. Case was standing in a closet

I hang mine from a hook in it's soft case. I left my 8 yr old BCE cheapo cue leaning against a wall for that entire time, used it once 8 years ago. Just took it out, no warping.

I worked in a music store for many years, this included hundreds of expensive vintage guitars.
Many hadn't seen the light of day in decades, some warped, some didn't.
I think it depends on the wood and environment.

But I don't think a "Just in case" attitude could do any harm lol.
          Long days and pleasant nights.

I agree; wood will move when and where it wants

the reason i was asking is that i have more cues than cases.
rather than getting a case. i was thinking of building a cue hanging rack with an ikea CD stand. something like this: http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/07305310/
and remove the dividers and install hooks to it to hang the cues instead.

correct, hanging will not prevent that.

I had a cue sitting against a wall (other side of the brick was the exterior wall of the house) in my closet for years and it never moved in the slightest, even after those mad winters we had with temps hitting -15c. Still dead straight to this day.

yep and i know of a collector who keeps them in a humidity / temperature controlled cabinet and still they bend!

Woods behaviour is odd to say the least.

A cue that I bought 6 months ago and really like seemed to warp noticeably the day after I left it in a locker at the local pool hall.

Fortunately it's still straight with the flat up and I don't know if I'm imaging this, but I seem to be playing better than ever with it. I'm getting loads more response and feel now.
