It was rumoured back in May he was trying one out.
Good luck to him in the upcoming events.
    Up the TSF! :snooker:

Its funny how some years ago players always stuck by one cue most of their career, it was always seen as the most important aspect was to stick to one cue. Now though it seems that quite a few players are quick to change cues when their form suffers, as though its not their lack of practice or form that is in question, they seem very quick to blame the cue. Higgins has won countless tournaments over the past 5-6 years since he used his old cue and now he's changing again. It doesn't make sense to me.

John has actually had a few cues over his career. He's probably won the world title with three different cues.

Higgins is just.....odd. He's living up to his namesake in Alex Higgins who was notorious for messing around with cues, chopping bits off, glueing bits on, reweighting them etc. According to the guy who makes MAC cues the cue he was using had had numerous cue "surgeries" as well. Don't really understand the "its always the cues fault" mentality.

Players don't seem to use cues for all that long these days at all, wonder how many O'Sullivan and Dale have churned through?

Wonder how the cue looks anyway, knowing Higgins, plain black butt.

          Any pics Trev?

O'sullivan and higgins are legends. How many amateurs change cues when they lose a bit of confidence, it's the same for the pro's.

Well its 2, 1 with the Parris cue he had and 3 with the North West.

spot on, but in reallity there would be no TSF sales of cues if you were right.

Altering cues imo its more of a placebo effect than anything after chopping a piece off then adding it back on, what possible difference is that going to make?

Are you sure it's two. I thought his first cue was a riley burwat.

His first world championship was with a Parris cue, I'm 100% certain of that. Not quite sure whether his second was with that cue or the North West he most recently had. Don't know anything about a riley burwat, Higgins to my knowledge only ever used a plain ebony cue all his professional career, his first cue was a 3/4 jointed cue, possibly Powerglide but that is my earliest recollection of the cue he used when he was 17.

He played in my dad's team in wishaw masters and i'm sure he says he had a riley burwat. He may have changed to his parris paragon for his first title and then his north west for the others.

His new cue has 4lower splices, not sure exactly what the wood used is but its quite orangy in colour with a very heavy dark grain running through it. Quite different.

How can you make that judgement without asking John the reason for the change, and trying the cue yourself before and after? It might have been to make the taper stiffer, increase tip size or other reasons you haven't bothered to consider.
                            Tear up that manure-fed astroturf!
