Pro granite are not bad tips, like with all pressed tips you need to bed them in, hitting the ball as hard as you're PP I'm not surprised it mushroomed if you didn't play it in first with lots of softer shots. Maybe you did I don't know. A tip that mushrooms is not a bad tip it just needs a little more maintenance than the ridiculously hard laminated tips. Its all personal preferance though, for me id rather maintain a tip that feels right rather than one that won't mushroom

That looks the same as Steve Davis used to have his tip Jrc750. What did you use to get the tip flush at the ferrule but flared out into the mushroom please? I've never fitted a mushroom tip like that before, always good to learn something new

Stu Green at Greenbaize did it for me
I think he just held the stanley knife at an angle and rotated the cue, made it look very easy

Ok, I could see that happening.

Does a mushroom tip play better . Just trying to understand the reasoning why anyone would want a mushroom tip.

It does,nt play any better than any other tip . One thing that has,nt been mentioned it that an overhanging laminated tip is far more likely to delaminate or split than a flush one or a pressed overhanging or flush tip especially after a bad miss cue/s .

Peter ebdon says it gives him less throw on the cue ball so that could be 1 reason buddy

You can see the logic in that as you are hiiting more of the center of the white as its bigger .

Never really gave the mushroom style tip a go, thought I'd try it out with my last re-tip.
