what size tip

Hi, this may be a daft question but i really do know nowt about this sort of thing.
When re tipping a cue what size tip do you put on, if you have a 9.5mm tip , do you stick a 10mm tip on (which is what i have done ) but its very hard to get it exactly even, so do you trim off the little excess, but the trouble with that is its not all the way round so the tip edge is different in parts.(i just left mine)
Or is it better to put say a bigger tip (11mm) on and evenly trim round the full edge.

Its best to put an over size tip on just trim trim it down with a sharp blade, take a look at this

With the tip guide on the forms, (second post I put up) use the pdf file 4 posts down. It's better.

i have looked at a few re-tipping videos and read ADRS tip guide(tis very good) but have not seen one that says for example if your tip is 9 mil you put on a 9,10 or 11 mill tip etc etc. unless i have missed it

Sticking a bigger tip on and trimming it down is the easiest way. use superglue gel too.

always best to use a bigger tip than the size of your ferrule. use super glue gel as it gives you a few seconds to center the tip then trim using a new stanely blade. parris cues have a tipping video just don't overdo the dome like the bloke in the video or watch Mike Wooldridge's videos he has 2! adr147's guide is useful too

btw a 10mm tip is about the right size for a 9.5mm ferrule, you should be able to center and trim it easily. if not keep practising until you can or get someone else to fit your tips for you
