    I've ordered the cue!

Should take about 8 weeks, maybe a bit quicker.

They showed me a couple of cues they are making at the moment and they looked absolutely superb. Nice tight straight grain, perfectly even splices; looked lovely.

They also got all the different types of wood out to show me how they all look. Spent a good hour talking about it with me. Can't ask for better than that. I DIDN'T EVEN GET AN EMAIL RESPONSE OFF SOME CUE MAKERS. Diabolical.

They've got all my details down to the exact taper I want on the cue. I'll look forward to posting pics when I get it.

tedisbill - which B&W are you ordering the cue from? My thoughts was B&W Billiards, not Burroughes&Watts.

            Hi mate,

Glad you have made and are happy with your decision, but a couple of observations. If you have been thinking for a while, why the sudden rush ? You asked for people's opinions in the op, but then seem to ignore them all, not a criticism, just an observation.

I can agree with you comment regarding the lack of response and the length of time it takes some cuemakers to reply. However, I think it is representative of craftsmen in general, these guys are great craftsmen, but not necessarily great retailers. For me, you alter your service expectations, depending on which market you are buying from. I would much prefer to have a top quality cue, than a quickly supplied, average cue.

No such company as Burroughes & Watts since the 60's when Riley bought them over. Just devious cue makers cashing in on a well known name.

I think you need to go and read my first post again. I didn't ask for anybody's opinion.

I said I'd been looking about for a bit, and that I was going to B&W.... I'm telling you something, not asking a thing.

The 'what do you think?' was about the cue design, hence the attached images.

                  Admittedly it is ambiguous.

                        It's new cue time!

Also, let's say we all agree that there's one best cue maker in the whole world. He's never made a bad cue, he's literally second to none.

I really want him to make me a cue. But he won't even respond to me?

So what can I do now? I can't get him to talk to me. So how can I get him to make me a cue?

Plus, if people are that bad regarding customer service, I'd rather take my business else where. If this cue I'm getting turns out no good, I'll try something else.

All I do know, is regardless of what trade you're in, it's not difficult to deal with people. It's a simple as saying 'good morning' to somebody at work. Simple.

I also have personally seen two new cues that B&W Billiards have just made. Absolutely superb. Perfect weight, perfect grain, perfect splices. I then also went to their shop yesterday, and they showed me cues they are currently making, which also looked spot on.

They've got loads of cues in their rack for like £150-£250. These cues have been bought in and are not hand made by them. Is it at all possible that somebody that didn't really know what they were buying, THOUGHT that they were getting some hand made special cue when in fact they were not. Then when this was pointed out, you feel cheated and a little bit silly? Maybe ADR will be able to tell me that there was 0% chance of this story.

I know that lots of people might 'bend' the tale of a story slightly to make themselves feel a bit less of an idiot. e.g. The person in ADR's story.

As I said, it was about the cue design and nothing else. Admittedly it was ambiguous. But I'm the person that wrote it, so I know what I meant.

What you meant is irrelevant as only you can know that. All that everyone else can go on is what you wrote, and as you said yourself what you wrote could be easily interpreted, as it was by some people as what do you think of my decision to get a cue from B&W.

Hope your new cue is exactly what you're after.

It may turn out to be a very nice playing cue and well made, if it turns out to be poor it should be easy to sell on and start the witch hunt again, so keep us updated especially when you start playing with it...

Ok. Thanks everyone. I've made a terrible decision. I won't look forward to my cue being made and when it is finished, I'll post pictures of my badly made, poor cue as soon as I can.
