First cue advice

Hi all.

I started playing snooker a few years back, enjoyed the game and used to play usually about once a week.
About a year has passed since playing regularly and I have decided to begin playing again, I feel more confident playing this time around and want to invest in my own cue to play and get use to.

I don't know much about cues, weight, timber type, length, tips or manufacturer so any advice would be much appreciated. I'm also in the UK should that effect cue availability.
My budget isn't huge, but I'm willing to spend around the £50 for a decent cue I'd like to use for a few years.

see if you can pick up a robin scott cue on ebay for that sort of bugdet. bought 2 last xmas as presents and was really impressed with the quality of the craftmanship and wood used. both were equally good so you can be fairly confident that that is their level of quality. also customer service was very good indeed

i have lots of these cheap cues plus it would be fitted with a proper tip etc.

I've changed the tips on 4 of these cues for players in my local pool league and all the tips were like granite. worse than the tip though the cues were all laquered rather than oiled

I change loads of tips for people and enjoy it. I know what you mean about the Lacquered finish!!! Yuck!

odd they have a very thick laquer.

Cheers for the advice, I'm looking to get a new cue and will replace the tip as suggested. Are there any decent brands for my £50 budget? I guess I would consider buying a used cue, however I'd prefer to be the first owner, if you know what i mean. :excitement:

You could do far worst than a Robin Scott for that budget, have a look on ebay...
